perhaps?
LMDE you are referring to linux mint right?
then sure, I've seen xfce turned into windows xp,
get prepared to do some research and download a bunch of external styles/icons.

As much as i like windows 7's goated aesthetics and it's significance as probably the last good OS before microsoft became retarded.
You'll probably have more issues with missing APIs\features than Security Fixes - neater screen\audio capture api and sync primitives are a few things i've noticed they've improved in their stack. and apps will change to make their shit more managable. developer ease > catering to 5 people on windows 7
When i needed to keep a win98 machine running but also running new software there was something called KernelEx that did that. there's probably some modern equivalent.

Windows 10 works fine for me. Edge is no longer obsessed with mi, and I don't get ads anymore. I just do what I would do on Windows 7, on Windows 10.

Yes, it just works (LTSC), but it has even more telemetry that you have to tinker with to disable and I'm pretty sure you can't disable it entirely.
You also have a lot of menus being obfuscated and a soulless, depressing flatshit UI

And why do you need detailed icons on your pc? For the aesthetics, nostalgia, or what? My only concern is if the software works well. Also, you do realise, in 2040 you will be saying >Things looked so much better in 2025 and 2029. You need soft, simple shapes because that's what is easy for human eyes to look at.
>>105985217 >you only need X
This is a slave's mindset. I'm not the anon you're quoting, but sometimes, I WANT things, not necessarily because I need them, but because they bring value to me regardless. I think earlier designs are objectively better and more pleasing to the eye and soul, which makes computing more enjoyable.
>My only concern is if the software works well.
Ok, so you're a soulless materialist. Fuck off.

So that I can clearly and immediately see what each interactive element is and does.
Icons and elements which lack any detail require significantly more mental effort to be understood by your brain because your brain. >You need soft, simple shapes because that's what is easy for human eyes to look at.
I'm sure some people will say this, but they'll ultimately be wrong. Human brain and eyes need details and texture because oversimplified icons/elements require your brain to fill in the gaps and be familiar with additional context. Skeuomorphic design is simply much more natural to human beings.

security updates dont matter if you are not retarded. Your computer is by default firewalled with your ISPs router, therefore random botnets that take advantage of smb exploits have no surface to attack. The rest is just the matter of not downloading the malware like a huge gorilla retard. You can also install simplewall for additional safety / preventing pirated software from connecting to the internet.

2000's is no more specific to the decade 2000-2009 than it is to the century 2000-2099 or even the millennium 2000-2999. And yet, "the 2000's" refers to the decade 2000-2009 because that is what native English speakers decided it meant, and that is consequently how it is used every day by native English speakers—no amount of ESL cope will ever change the fact that only an Anglo-Saxon-Jute decides how Anglo-Saxon-Jutes speak the tongue of Anglo-Saxon-Jutes.

Your country is filled to the brim with shitskins and within a few decades the only form anglos will continue to exist in is in mixed mutt form.

Because if it looks like nothing how are you meant to be able to see what it is. Details are how the human brain identifies things. Modern featureless design requires so much brain power to see, you have to closely examine it to figure out what you are looking at. Whilst the older designs with actual distinct features could be identified instantly.

Win 3 standard (only because of the color, MacOS had crunchy icons too but B/W)? The flat icon and gadgets shit is a more recent decent into UX hell.
>>105985217
disappearing UI elements is pox upon the eyes, modern systems are shit and slow AF. I have noticed Win 11 stalling without any indicator that it is hung on system. The Start button on Win11 is absolute shit.

very nice.
dunno how people can look at symbolic icons and go fuck yeah man that's my shit right there. a couple of days ago i booted a modern DE and couldn't make out the browser icon was supposed to be a planet lol
>>105985217 >And why do you need detailed icons on your pc?
Why do you need fancy car when public transportation exists?
But more importantly, what you have to do with his needs, faggot?
