I secretly believe that falling birthrates are the reason why governments are willing to invest such insane amounts of money into something as unprofitable as AI. They're hoping that it will be good enough to replace the missing humans caused by demographic decline before the situation gets critical and the economy starts collapsing. I think birthrates are part of the picture, but the real emergency is the collapsing economy. I think they desperately need something or someone to become extremely productive for their valuations to keep making sense. Just look at extend and pretend policies in real estate, it's all just hopium. The reality is no one is coming and you should either make peace with your maker or start working on your cardio to increase your value in the upcoming market place of ideas.
