i've been fucking around programming for 25+ years and never heard of this "code cave" nonsense before. i must have missed the memo about it. is this a zoomer word? i would just say patching but whatever.

no idea if it's a zoomer word but afaik it's just the word for space you need to modify code in a function/subroutine.
it can be some debug/tracing code you overwrite with your code or padding between functions or empty space near the end of the code segment etc...
