RTX 50 Super specs: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.
Intel 13 & 14th gen i7/9 -K CPUs: uncertain long-term reliability. Update BIOS if you buy these.

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

https://overclock3d.net/news/cpu_mainboard/msi-enables-future-cpu-support-with-amd-am5-motherboard-bios-updates/

Will they get Zen 6 support? Probably.
B840 boards are missing PCIe 5 lanes and have fewer USB ports.
They appear to have fewer VRMs, but board manufacturers will just set restrictive power limits.
I see a 9950X3D being compatible with an MSI B840 board.

After a long arduous search for best bang per buck card, bought a new XFX Merc 9060 XT 16gb to replace my 1060 6gb and join a long serving R5 1600 and upped the ram, honestly couldn't be happier, hardware offerings are horrible right now, nvidia has nothing good in the budget cards segment with more than 8 gigs of vram that's capable of decent 1440p, was considering also making the jump to AM5, but again, not really worth it return wise.

I still remember the jump from a Phenom II X4 GTS 450 to that R5 1600 and the GTS 1060, it blew my fucking mind, now it's so damn expensive to make a similar jump and get the same return, wouldn't really advise anyone of upgrading.

4090 was 50% of 3090 and 5090 is 30% over 4090

massive gains are made on Nvidia's side at least

>4090 was 50% of 3090
More like 70%+ on average, nearing 100% in some outliers (CP2077 RT for instance). 4090 was a huge perf leap, 5090 in comparison is quite terrible and one of the lowest perf gains per generation in the last 10+ years, especially if you take into account that it uses 150W more than the 4090 and doesn't really come with any new features.

Because the RTX -90 tier of GPUs isn't restricted by a laptop's area & efficiency requirements.
My point is true the lower the tier you go; it used to be the opposite in the good ole days where a GTX 1060 easily was within 10% of the 980's performance.

>>105986813
11.333 ns first word latency isn't the end of the world; you make tradeoffs by going with higher capacity modules.

Zen6 should be good with the revamped IOD. The trash Infinity Fabric speeds murderizing latency on non-X3D chips is what Zen 5% such a disappointment. Plus they'll be moving to 12-core CCDs which should give a nice MT perf boost on top of whatever other IPCs gain there are. Every monitor tech sucks it only depends on what kind of sucking you prefer. All OLEDs burn in and flicker at low rgb values with the refresh rate. LCDs backlights degrade too just like individual oled pixel but on the whole picture and have shitty black levels. LCDs dimming zones individually degrade.

Every monitor sucks except for truly flicker free reference grade dual layer lcd monitors. But these have shitty latency, only 60Hz, cost a fortune and need like 500Watts power

Nigga if I'm buying a graphics card I expect that shit to last me 3 years minimum, and it's not just about the improvement, it's about what could've been, and we could have better higher performance cards if they didn't want to rip every penny from you, no reason an entry low level card can't have 10+ gigs of vram except to force you into a higher price bracket, phone manufacturers have been doing this shit for years, just release the same shit with marginal improvements and a couple of gimmicks to tease retards with more money than brains.

I guess those cores wasn't any better than a regular 7600X, but there were lots of them Windows can't really utilize. motherboard wise, if you're planning the system to last you, invest in a good well equipped mobo, this one doesn't have PCIe X5, most B650 motherboards don't, not that you'll x16 full speed but still, future proof, so maybe look at a different chipset, also no reason not to get a full ATX board if you're not constrained by space, you'll need the extra ports, at the very least, the m2 ones.

Your CPU might not be able to run that 6400MT/s EXPO setting at the ideal 1:1 memory speed to memory controller speed (MEMCLK:UCLK) ratio.
If the CPU can't run the EXPO at 1:1 mode and if you're comfortable with tweaking values in the BIOS, you can just downclock the memory speed to 6000MT/s and change the primary timings to 30-38-38 or something similar.

I would rather get the WD SN5000 2TB (TLC & faster write speed) drive than the P3 Plus (QLC).

There is no possible or financial reason to just "close it off", all manufacturers use defective or subpar chipsets as lower tier products, from display panels to processors of all kinds, and AMD has been doing it for years, I personally had a Phenom II X2 that I tried unlocking and did so, ran it quad core for years, hell, motherboard manufacturers had a setting for unlocking in the bios and used it as a selling point.

And also no reason to "damage the silicon", it's free marketing for the cards, and actually drives sales, would you buy a 4060 ti or try your luck with a 9070 that could hatch into a 9070 xt?

The 9070 non-XT is power-starved out of the box, that's why it scores so highly in efficiency metrics.

For 13/14th gen -K CPUs, most can run 6800MT/s.
I would buy a 7200MT/s kit, but this isn't guaranteed to work if your CPU has a below-average memory controller.
For Core Ultra (Arrow Lake), the faster the better. Minimum 8000MT/s if you're buying a 265K.

Non-K DDR5, stick with the boring 6400MT/s in the OP.

the absolute biggest problem is the firmware implementation and the eternal cucking of pixel refreshes which can and will interrupt your usage if the implementation is bad
then you have brands not willing to give you control over certain settings like disabling pixel shift and people like LG that have weird vignetting edge dimming that can't be disabled outside of their service menu that resets every time, but on the same panel on another model by Asus they actually show you the setting
Asus seems to be one of the only consistent manufacturer that actually gives you most settings
then you still have the problems of vrr flicker, color fringing due to the subpixel layout, possible eye strain, possible black screening due to bad hardware implementations/software/overheating panels/bad unit and more things I forgot to deal with
if you manage to beat/dodge all these then maybe it will be good for you, or you will find the brightness lackluster and not much different than a good ips in bright scenes
if you want better hdr you either have to buy a miniled monitor or high end 55"+ oled tv

The price is same. What should I get? 4070 Ti Super has a bit more memory and performance, as well as PhysX & CUDA 32bit support for older games. The seller is selling his gamer setup and still has year of warranty for it. So probably not a miner card.

5070 has less ram, but is more recent and maybe that MFG stuff is going somewhere when it matures.

NVIDIA only begrudgingly rolled out that driver-level FG technology onto 4000 series, after much stink. It seems like only latest series would benefit from newer technology like perhaps that neural texture compression stuff that reduces VRAM use by 90%.

5070 is also a bit less power-hungry.

well, discord is fine for me, but a bunch of games, mostly Unity ones, are fucky with Winblows 11 aswell. Screen flickering and micro-alt-tabbing out the arse whenever i use my main mouse click unless the game has a dedicated fullscreen mode. UE games never have this problem tho.

Neural texture compression is taxing on the tensor cores, and it worsens DLSS performance.
It's just a seed planted for the future.

The all-time low prices of 2023 won't be coming back.
SSD manufacturers and component suppliers had a historical oversupply issue that needed to be corrected.
They made too many SSDs during the COVID-19 work-from-home hardware demand surge.

Doesn't seem like the kind of device that should be left on 24/7 especially if you're talking about older ones. Not to mention the heat from them cooking the battery unless you remove it and leave it on cable. An old PC would be better as they are much easier to open up and fix if something goes wrong.

everything not that much fps in a long time though, play desktop more than anything
I feel like I take like close to a decade breaks between gaming and come back and see what has changed since last time
>You've been display hunting for like 8 months?
longer than that, but it's mostly just shit posting, eventually I will build a real pc though

>Intel Core i5-14600K $230
>AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D $600

Platform on Intel 14600K re-uses my DDR4 3600 CL16, and costs ~$1900 in total.
Platform on AMD 7800X3D doesn't re-use anything, and costs ~$2350 in total.

I was going to go with Intel since that was my choice since 2013, but nearly 200W is kinda warm. Needs water cooling or giant-ass 1.5Kg cooler. Not that I am against it, I did sit in a tiny room with my Q6600@4.0Ghz 1.49 V before so it is not unfamiliar, but still. Kinda curious about water cooling actually since I never had it before and it is much more affordable nowadays.

Do not care much about platform future-proofing: I don't beleive either would be worth re-using after 5-8 years.

I didn't read your post and don't care about whatever you're talking about but the i5s on raptor lake are where ddr4 vs ddr5 starts to matter a decent bit even in video gaymes.
Also no one tells you (and I don't know why) this but a 13600k/14600k will throttle at stock even with the best air coolers. Even with a 360mm shitty aio it'll hit like 90c+. After tuning you're giving up upwards to like 20%+ performance if you're on air/tiny radiator. In overclocking even with the safe settings and voltage cuckage after bios updates you're going to be thermally limited before anything else without a delid and a custom loop with an insane amount of radiator(radiators)
I love raptor lake and the insane cooling requirements to actually hit the limit I just think it's neat :) :) :)
i5 secretly the best gaming cpu when considering it's $150-$200 for like over a year now btw. Enough to drive even a 5090 at 1080p in these ue5 games like Silent Hill and Oblivion btw :)
My i5 did 6.2ghz all core 100% stable in ycrucncher before nigger kike intel cucked me with a 1.55v hard limit :). I know (from forums) people who have run them at over 1.7v since release no issue :)

7800x3d is the comfier CPU
It has 8 real cores and there is no need to deal with e-cores and it uses only 40W in most games

HUB is full of shit and DDR4-3600 is better than any DDR5 you can run stable on a cheap B660/B760 board

hey guys I have pcie 2.0 x1 slot on my motherboard and want to get a NVMe ssd apdater. I will upgrade pc in a few years so want to get nvme ssd now and use it while I wait. Is it even worth getting nvme or wait until I build my pc in a few years? my pc is really old
Anonymous No.105994970 [Report]

Sure why not
It will be limited to about 400mb/s but you'll still enjoy the lower latency of nvme over a sata ssd
