I predict that AI will replace low level engineers to a point where software engineering will be difficult to start to get good at until you reach a certain point where youll be in big demand. So basically the future cut off is ML and advanced math that AI cant do.

I can learn yes, but can I turn that knowledge into a career? Or did all the people with good jobs start when they were 16?

You're probably not gonna get a job at FAANG company but there's no reason why you can't get a good job for a good company in a few years, hell working as a dev for a non tech medium sized company isn't glamorous but it pays well, is fairly easy and has good work life balance. Just try hard and work whatever you can get for a start might have to be prepared to eat a bit of shit at the beginning

You might find this interesting, it's a stackoverflow survey from the last year. You can find how much which language is valued, what's the salary and so on. Lots of useful data.

https://survey.stackoverflow (dot ) co/2024/technology#2-programming-scripting-and-markup-languages

If you like javascript, then the MERN - Mongo DB, Express, React, Node is pretty popular.

Thanks for providing. Was 4chan stopping you from posting the full link from some anti spam filter type thing? Just curious about the (dot)

4chan used to mark any link as a spam for me. I don't know if it does it still, but I automatically go about removing the dot

In any case you can still become a software developer, don't worry about it. Entry positions are tough right now, but not impossible.
One advise I can give you is to not be loyal to any company. Best thing you can do for yourself is change jobs every 2 years. Best way to earn more money, best way to advance. Loyalty does not pay off.
I just quit my job after 6 years of working there due to abuse. Companies will treat you as a means to an end and you should treat them the same.

And if you're just starting out, don't rely on AI too much, it's important to understand the concepts yourself.

Just look for a job, any job, doesn't have to be in "tech", that's a fake word.

Does your electrician repair your A/C with knowledge or what? Does your dentist know what he's doing?

Tech is cyclical and right now is a bad time for tech. Everytime the economy is in the gutter the first thing companies do is outsource everything to whichever third world country is cheapest. Used to be Japan, then China, then India and now I'm told Egypt is pegged as the next cheap workforce country. But jeets are still cheap so what do I know.
Executives sell this to investors using whatever the current buzzword is. Used to be High Level Languages, then it was Low Code Development, now it's AI. But really, they're just paying a bunch of thridies instead. This goes on until the economy starts looking up and the thirdies make one mistake too many and they'll start hiring firstied again.
Happens roughly every ten years. If you really want to get into tech right now, look for industries that are doing well. For example alternative energy in Europe, electric cars in Asia or whatever the fuck is doing well in America. Coal, maybe
