Do you even use google anymore? Or search engines in general?
I just realised I haven't used one for weeks
I wanted to know where Hitler was buried and instead of using Jewgle I just asked ChatGPT

I use copilot for most things. Search engines if I want something from a specific site, but it's never where I start anymore. I'm old enough to have witnessed the quantum leap from altavista to google, but now LLMs have surpassed that. Google these days reminds me of how poor search engines performed back when people thought "search engine optimization" should be a job title.

Google has been quite good for seeing new porn scenes being uploaded across the web. But it's been surprisingly slow lately. Dunno if they're suppressing more than ever or if there's just less uploads.

Where is the AI going to get its training data if all the info left in the world is itself from AI. Information is literally going to get lost like this. Not only that, but some amount of false information is probably going to become "real".

So you chose something that is:
- slower
- less reliable
- worse for privacy (especially with google alternatives)

For what reason?
Is this a shilling campaign or are normies this dumb?

No. Even without ai overviews its fucking trash now.

>search engines in general
Mostly not, I have 70% of websites I need configured as site searches. @w for wikipedia, @aw for arch wiki, @pd for protondb. Skips the middleman search engine entirely and in most cases sends me straight to the page I need. The other 30% is duckduckgo.

>use search engine
>first page of results is fix-problem.xyz or some shit
>body of every page is the identical "turn it off and on again" "update your system" "and if that doesn't work install fix-problem (malware) and it will magically fix your problem!"
Search engines are almost useless now; it's better to just search individual sites. At least LLMs give relevant information and can adapt solutions quickly. You also don't have to hope that someone on stack overflow or reddit has had the same issue.

This has been the case since 2017, DDG (Bing) is a better search engine. If you're realizing it now, 8 years later, is because you never did a proper testing or just didn't want to use anything else because of stigma or something.

Yes but it's annoying as fuck using anything but Google and even that has its moments of not so great fuckery. Bing used to be decent but it fails to return relevant information more than 30% of the time, seriously it's sad.

That's a problem for the next CEO. The current CEO will get billions of dollars from government and investors and when/if things go up he'll just get fired, receive a compensation based on performance (so millions of dollars) and move on to the next company.

The current system is a fucking joke.

But Google doesn't show search results anymore either, their AI shit is the only thing anyone reads now. Until they start hiding ads in that as well, that is.

google might not be dead (yet), but stackoverflow absolutely-fucking-is. used to go there daily, now since using LLMs havent had to visit in months (thank god)

google still has some worth when it comes to searching for very recent stuff. but even then you have to add "wiki" or "reddit" or whatever keywords to actually get relevant hits rather than 1000 jeet malware sites interspersed with ads and promoted pages. so its basically just a lazy shortcut to those pages you already knew existed and just needed a quick way to get to, rather than a useful search engine at this point. sort of like a kind of dynamic bookmark system
