But that normies cry out now, oh is music to my ears. This is exactly what it felt like to the geeks, when the normies ruined it for them.
Many 35+ millenials here were surfing the web and exploring the net easily back in 1999 on cheap DSL landlines, upper-middleclass white consumers households, always using desktop PCs. Then the mobile cancer came... you are just experiencing the net's death a second time. But this time it's an adversary even the normies cannot stomach, I hope the SAARs drive you insane. Frogposters also post wojaks, but mostly offensively to portrait the other guy. There's proud wojak posters too, that use it as a badge of honor, they got banned, made their own circlejerk site, planned and executed a hack on this very stie, taking it down for days and doxxing stats that showd 90% of content were literal kike glowies.
But anyway, frogs vs animegirls is a common theme in this basket weaving forum for as long as I remember frogposting.

It was my life too, I understand. Wait this out, focus on the real world and come back, the people you're looking for still exist, they're just scattered and drowned in the hordes of the modern internet on five thousand different federated private spaces. The internet as a public hangout and discussion space, where you could routinely discover some cool niche thing or a funny video from some rando, is mostly dead. I mean, there are still pockets of it here and there of course, but the people who occupy them are pretty much all now middle-aged veterans from the heyday of blogs and web forums 20+ years ago. I guess the closest thing now that resembles that sense of community of the old web, before it was buried in homogeneous algorithmically driven SEO spam and AI slop and parasocial e-celebs, is stuff like private Discord servers or Telegram channels, but it’s still a far cry from how things used to be

>>106006524A lot of it is ESLs. The average internet user of current year has nothing in common with you and is posting from a smartphone, without any context of the net's overall culture. At best they are from twitter checking out the infamous 4chan and bringing a culture war with them, at worst, a paid indian shillfarm using translation software to dilute discussion.
It is dead anon, I've posted since around 2007 and been using the net as a child since about 2003. The average anon of 2007 is an introverted, shy autistic nerd. The average anon of 2025 is not posting in their native language and is on a smartphone. You have to go to the real world, make things and drag quality people to you, there is no other option. Every quality community is private and based around gatekeeping the modern net user that I described above. Cultivate a skill and focus on real life above all else, it's not worth your time outside of a select few people you choose to drag into your orbit, the era of being an introverted lurker and finding funny shitposts or decent discussion is mostly over. I'm mad about it too.

I knew it before the american elections, but in that period I think I still used facebook for shitposting? Now it's boomer website
Going to sleep now by the way
So what, the new nerdy thing to do is to leave tech behind. Read books, play physical board games and touch grass.
>>106006609>with people making the 1000th r.danny copy botdude that was one of the best things of that time, now nobody makes their own bots mainly because discord cucked the API.

>>106006581>The average internet user of current year has nothing in common with you and is posting from a smartphone, without any context of the net's overall culture.Yes and the worst about phone posters is how bored and vapid they are. They think other people have to entertain them, whilst they bring nothing into the discussions themselves with their phones.
They are the "1 post by this ID" you see on pol with the Samshit IMG_9171.jpg filenames. They are hit and run posters that will post from a toilet on wifi and disengage any discussion the moment they are bored again.
Losers with no object permanence.

It's that monotone grating noise much akin to cicadas in Japan. That constant subhuman droning in here.
>>106006617correct, and the new normie thing to do is browse twitter and shilled garbage on an endlessly scrolling twitter feed. We've completely flipped and it's why the internet's quality has degraded so badly. The ultimate middle ground is to find a nerd circle you click with in real life so you don't have to deal with any of this. Visit cons, whatever you have to do. Insulate yourself from the retardation of the eternal culture war with quality people and you've won.
The insane normal people you used to use the internet to get away from have overtaken it. You can join private discords and communities that are more eccentric but their problems have a whole different book of issues. Rest well and don't take it too seriously, you're not the only one with these opinions. I truly do think it'll get better in a few years when gatekeeping becomes a standard requirement, it's happened in the 2000s already, where a certain forum required payment to enter and post. We're just repeating the cycle.
>>106006659It happens on private spaces like discord and federated communities too. Anyone good at expression has to hide in DMs or become overwhelmed. As a result, the public chats are for the mentally unwell and ESLs talking in circles, brain drain on a massive scale.
>>106006581>You have to go to the real world, make things and drag quality people to you, there is no other option.I've been to hacker space in $bigCity and it was either leftist identity politics or groups not opening to strangers. Let me share a fundamental truth with you: At some age the effort to make new friends and have them trust you is too exhausting. Life itself is already enough work. You are most likely as old as I, that means you remember the time where you'd just go $place and you'd just act as if you were already friends with $person. In elementary you'd make a friend by shaking hands with someone else. As an adult now it's so much harder.
>Every quality community is private and based around gatekeeping the modern net user that I described above.I agree but this also ruins club culture. Most ham radio clubs are hostile. They'd rather see their hobby die than let "young" people in it. The hostile 70+ hams that even hate 40 year olds because they use a digi mode the analogue ham despises.

Most of the internet is unusable at this point. Back in 2012 there used to be 20+ websites I'd frequent, now it's just 4chan, the people you follow tab (with a carefully curated follow list) on xitter and rarely YouTube.
Offtopic: talking about SEO spam.
I created a website for a small company I started with my father and a friend.
We're getting fucking FLOODED by pajeets with their SEO proposals. I can barely find customer emails in-between garbage, how the fuck does this shit not end up in spam? When we tried to do an advertising campaign with cold emailing half of our emails got deferred, how can a fucking pajeet send me 7 emails with the exact same content from one email and then another 5 from a different email and just go straight into my mailbox? Wtf?
Same with boards on 4chan, places like /v/ or /fit/ are full of normies who saw a bunch of greentexts on Instagram tiktoks or whatever, or leftards trying to "take back 4chan from /pol/" whenever someone says nigger or something
/pol/ is a disaster and they see jews in their own shadow

>>106015947>So yeah it is not a 4chan replacement but the slow pace encourages higher quality/longer postingSeems cool but really impractical when you want to view files and images directly. The closest thing that would spark my interest would be an electronics forum. Russian imageboards have sometimes better categories and if you want to keep normies out, obscure fields of interest can provide better fragmentation. /g/ sucks because they cannot make a consoomerist /g/.
Even virtual tubers got their own containment board. There should be a board for consumer electronics, hobbyist electronics and programming. Often interesting threads die because some expert who is only online a few days a week will never see them. The inherent slowness is a good thing. Consumer boards move faster, that's normal
>>106016228>its not about mass appeal, its just about any appeal. The appeal about 4chan is the concept of Anonymous. There is no inherent need that we always recognize the same people across all threads and even boards. Such things only cause friction and social tensions. We might yell at each other over a subject but be highly agreeable in another thread over a shared enemy and anti-feature.
Reddit is largely cancerous because of the voting system, reward driven posting and echo chamber of freak opinions. Maybe I should not get into epigenetics here but I might as well.
Stress can fuck up acetyl groups and methyl groups on a DNA and histone level. That means your body can over or under produce receptors for serotonin, which causes depression. That mechanism is largely stress and inflammation triggered. Inflammation is caused by poor sleep and bad diets too.
Modern society itself is killing us mentally. Did you know that FOMO (fear of missing out) and anxiety is not dopamine driven, but serotonin driven? Droomscrolls and algorithmic feedback loops are supposed to screw your serotonin.

Usually dumb people are super easy to offend, something something cognitive dissonance.
>you realise it's stupid people all the way down, the only difference is they believe themselves to be capable unlike the restI see your point and it appears to be so. Maybe movies are a great example. Some movies make use of a narrator type character that asks dumb questions and the other characters explain it to the character.
I feel when we bowed down to allow every dummy to be included and kept in the loop via cheap narrative devices, companies appealed to the lowest common denominator, because dumb people are potential customers as well.

Beware of the mind trap of mass consciousness. Your thoughts are not your own but have been conditioned by the mob of tribalism. Having a sense of belonging is wonderful, but it is disastrous when we diminish the other.
