Hello lads. I'm looking at two cheap smartphones. One has 4 GB of RAM, the other has 8 GB of RAM. I only need a smartphone for basic tasks though - calls, texts, WhatsApp. And the 8 GB phone is nearly twice the cost of the 4 GB phone.

Should I go for the 4 GB phone, or the 8 GB phone? I think I'm leaning towards the 4 GB phone to save some money. Hopefully the performance isn't too bad just for simple tasks.

So I had lineage installed on my phone, and i stupidly updated while on a trip, which broke the usb tethering function, which I needed to VPN my work laptop to bypass the corporate security location tracking software. I tried rolling back by exporting the previous update and downgrading by a month. Upon reboot, it wiped the user partition and reset.
I'd like to recover photos. Rooted, unlocked, DD'd segments of the flash memory onto my laptop and tried running forensic soft like photorec and sleuthkit. Turns out it's encrypted (fuck lineage/goog for forcing it, and file based encryption at that), but I actually never set a password on my phone. Is it possible to decrypt and recover or am I SoL?

just installed the first screen protector in my life and it was a piece of shit experience.
1st glass I lined it up fine but there was invisible to naked eye dust particles that ruined the screen. I guess my desk area was a bit dusty and you cant just eyeball it. Theres just so many dust particles floating in the air holy shit.
So that went into the trash. I only had 1 left and had to stress if I fuck that up too and have to wait a while to get new pack.

Next attempt after some googling I ended up steaming my bathroom with hot showering to reduce dust particles. Used a lamp to directly shine on the screen to show the particles better. Had to clear the surface from dust first. Obsessibely use the glue tape to tap them away.
Then it worked out fine.

I got a Pixel 9A recently. I'm very happy with it. It's slightly smaller than the Pro Series 8 I had. Overall, I'm very pleased with it. I like the form factor better and the battery is great. I don't do a ton of CPU intensive tasks or photography or gaming or anything like that, so it works fine for me. My primary concern was battery life and custom ROM support, and it fits the bill perfectly. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, but I can highly recommend it.
