Current gen AIs are trained only to create output that looks correct. That's how their training data is structured and that's how they're rewarded. Confirming that their output is ACTUALLY correct is currently beyond their abilities.
This means they're only suited for tasks where you need output that looks correct. It can only help reliably with common problems, and you have to be willing to put in the time to confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that the answer is not hallucinated.
The problem is not "AI" in general. It's an AI that creates false confidence and a public who accepts it blindly without understanding its limitations.
