Thank you China for bringing the price of robots to a consumer level even before the have started entering the markets.
They'll make this stuff go mainstream faster than anyone realizes.

No.
Because off to the side, just out of focus of the vid, is a guy using a remote control.
China is a third-world Shithole that like to pretend they're cutting edge. Meanwhile most of their bridges, roads and building are collapsing around them or are on fire. Also, they suffer mega floods each year because they're too stupid to install drainage systems in their city infrastructure.

Having a robot of this type is like having a "pet wolf". You never know when it goes mad all of a sudden and kill you.
On the other hand, having small dumb robots (appliances, like a microwave) is generally safe.

A robot doesn't need to be humanoid to do that. The brickwall is robotics AI, not hardware. And making AI for those types of task is hard and to my knowledge currently not done.
There is a reason why humanoid robot demonstrations are them doing cartwheel, dancing or whatever the fuck in a controled envinronment rather than something useful in a chaotic one.

I guess that's neat, but I can't imagine it being useful to me with that wonky mobility and rubber balls for hands. I hope I live to see robots become good enough to wipe dust off of shelves. I'd also like to see combat robots. I don't really care about the ethics of that, I just think that it's the coolest shit ever.

If anything, proliferation of AI robots on the battlefield will decrease casualties due to the immense power differential between humans and robots. Sending humans would become completely pointless.
