My current Mint install is about to shit itself, so I'm planning to switch to either Ubuntu or Debian. Which one? I'm not bothering with tinkering, ricing and other shit anymore, I just want it to work.

I like Debian better, it never failed me, but it's setup does take slightly longer than Ubuntu. You probably need to put the non-free firmware option on.

If you just want to do work, give Fedora a spin.

Just make sure you install after the release. Switching from testing to stable on Debian is a bit annoying.

So you are planning to switch to...essentially the same thing?
If you somehow managed to break mint, it will happen with Debian or Ubuntu too.
