Sadly without these things the internet would be worse than it is. Even with rules fighting to keep civility in check the internet is barely usable.

With increase of commercialization the internet became a sanitized playground of companies.
With increase of internet users we got increase of competing worldviews that all need to be moderated and sanitized.

Simple as that.
