Word has a ton of features meant for formatting the document. Markup languages are good for the computer but not for paper.
>inb4 LaTeX
Not user friendly, also needing to compile your paper to see changes is retarded.

I only use it to write my CV, mostly just in case someone asks me for a Word file instead of PDF, but so far no one has asked me for the Word version in years...
can you print markdown files to PDF?

Yes, you can export to both PDF and Word.

Typst is nice, but it's not adopted well yet. I can just send .md file to someone and they can open it.

>I hate Latex, it always has problems with multilingual stuff.
Skill issue. You must be using a BoomerTeX engine.
>Tectonic is a modernized, complete, self-contained TeX/LaTeX engine, powered by XeTeX ...
>XeTeX is an extension of TEX that integrates TEX's typesetting capabilities with (a) the Unicode text encoding standard (supporting most of the worldโ€™s scripts) and (b) modern font technologies (TrueType and OpenType)

This. Underline is way betther than bold and italics for grabbing one's attention, but you can't just grab zoomers attention without their consent, no no, it would hurt their fee fees. Meanwhile ads everywhere.
