Fedora KDE

I went with CachyOS KDE, came back to Windows because font rendering is trash and LibreOffice sucks donkey balls, among other annoyances. Gotta say though, the OS never broke, which was a pleasant surprise. I just want off the Microsoft train bros.

I'm very happy with tumblweed until they shit the bed with the nvidia drivers open.
They treat it like a red head step child when it's mandatory for 5000 series cards.

sorry my reply was too harsh.
But genuinely, I think if you use office 365 there's a cloud version.
As far as font rendering I don't think it's a kernel issue it'd be more of a desktop envinment issue. So if you ever feel like giving it another go, maybe try a distribution that doesn't use kde, might work better out of the box with your hardware.
Also if you have an old laptop that you don't use, maybe switch it to linux to get yourself used to it a bit more, 'cause it'd definitely take awhile to get used to a big change like a new OS.

font rendering can be tweaked, look into subpixel rendering and font hinting settings
office 365 the other anon is right you can use it in a browser, not sure if it has any limitations compared to the standalone versions though
