>That report’s conclusion—which echoed the assessments of the CIA officers involved in the program during the 1970s—was that enough accurate remote viewing experiences existed to defy randomness, but that the phenomenon was too unreliable, inconsistent, and sporadic to be useful for intelligence purposes. We decided not to restore the program.

Wikipedia is dying anyway, the amount of admins has declined from 2000 to 800, and RFA mostly opposed new ones, even the new "admin elections" process fizzled out after the first one.

Most of the "controversial" articles are now locked behind the "extended confirmed" edit wall now so only dedicated autists remain. Most people aren't going 500 edits just to say the article is wrong.

The majority of the public have got fed up of the begging banners and just rip the Wikipedia content via AI tools now as well. Wikipedia, at its core is a millennial internet phenomenon, gen alpha and zoomers will be all AI based soon.

I hate how you retards use strong words to try to gain credibility... there were no empirical evidences, the fuck does that even mean in this context? stacy smith and john mccain III said they could see in the next room and said they saw a pen or something and doctor Retardson Jr. went apeshit because ther was in fact a pen in the room?

the wikipedia page for marc dutroux used to be quite lengthy and insightful, but a few years ago it got trimmed down and a lot of crucial information was outright deleted. if you check the page's history, you'll find one editor in particular monitoring the page, pruning as much information as possible, and getting into fights with other editors over it.

for instance, the page originally used to mention dutroux receiving routine payments in his gulf arab bank account that coincided with the dates of his kidnappings. the editor deleted this entire part, calling it "conspiracy theory," and instead claimed that dutroux got his money from "insurance fraud" (a claim that was only made in a single german tabloid magazine in 2004)

in reality, wikileaks had already dumped court documents on the dutroux affair, including dutroux's bank transactions which 100% confirmed the earlier page's history. this was omitted because wikipedia does not consider wikileaks to be a "reliable source"

It's been known wikipedia is shit since the early 2000s. Have so many stories about shit that went on there in the early days. The one that comes to mind right away though:
>be me
>Have fetish for certain types of women's clothing
>spend many hours going down wikipedia rabbit holes about 16th-early 20th century women's fashion
>learning about invention of things like the bra
>notice the same person is in all of the pictures on every article about women's underwear
>it's obviously a man cross dressing
>the pictures are pretty bad and half of the time don't even show the type/style of clothing in question
>it's basically some fag modeling what I assume is his mothers/sisters underwear on every page
>decide to edit them all to stock photos of the style of underwear in question and/or replace with public domain pictures of models that are actually women
>end up in edit war with who I assume is the fag posting pictures of himself
>this is happening over 10-15 pages
>admins side with his claims that the pictures of models show too much skin and the stock pictures of just underwear aren't as good as what was there before
>other people start to notice and there are really long threads on 2-3 of the pages
>give up because I don't have time for this bullshit
>check in years later and they're still there and they're still debating

They basically let an ugly faggot rule over most of the women's clothing articles with an iron fist for 10-15 years. This was long before the current climate with so many trannys running around ruining everything on the web. This was like late Bush Jr. - Obama's first term in office so mid-2000s - late 2010s.

There are tons of other pages with straight up wrong information suffering from someone squatting on it for years. Usually with a bot to auto revert edits. I gave up on that place a long time ago. Admins have always been retarded.

The only time I remember wikipedia being decent was in the first 3-6 months.

All eletronic devices emit electromagnetic radiation. You can build devices that are able to pick up on this and view your monitor remotely, read your memory remote or read your keyboard input remotely. This has been demonstrated multiple times to be possible without requiring special hardware. There was one demonstration where somebody bought $200 worth of electronics and built such a device. Federal agents could just drive outside your house with a car and get all your private information, even if your harddrive is encrypted. To protect against this you need to enclose your electronic devices in a faraday cage, like the co-creator of piratebay did. See pic.

they'll study/research anything that could potentially yield power. doesn't matter how retarded it sounds. they're not highschoolers cringing at shit that sounds schizo lol. they'll look into anything just for the off chance there might be something there, that's all there is to it. that's what pro-psychos do, that's how you increase your domination chances. cringing at something just because it sounds schizo is something that uptight academics do. and they'll most often be right, if not always.
still, that lowers your chances of running into something that can increase your power and lethality over your enemy, which is what industrial military complex psychos are into. so don't wonder spooks research every single crazy claim out there that would promise some advantage over the enemy. they probably have research files on any schizo claim that ever popped anywhere, doesn't mean the claim itself is legitimate, it just means they looked into it on the off chance there's something real there. that's it.

when in elementary school, some kids will get pulled aside and take different "classes" for a few weeks or months, or sometimes just never come back, and the ones that do come back talk about having various bizarre tests and questions (althought sometimes mundane stuff like iq tests too), mostly to do with stuff like being psychic, out of body experiences, remembering stuff from before you were born, or whatever. I remember talking to one of my "A.L.P.H.A." (I still don't know what it means) teachers, an ugly old woman with a lazy eye, telling her I floated in the air after walking off a step before I realized I wasn't falling (and then summarily fell) and she told me SHE had done something similar as a child. In my particular class like 2 people were removed from alpha every week until I was one of the 4 left before I got removed with another kid and returned to normal classes. The kid that got removed with me went on to be valedictorian at my school, and everyone in the classroom was smart (I was just autistic and liked trivia, so whatever) but I never met the other two that were left in there ever again. Don't remember their names or faces well.

I'm still trying to decide if it was just another counter psyop by the russians because they too had their own remote viewing program. So they started it and leaked it to a western spy and they ran it back and spooked enough people to get us to start ours. Or it was real. I like the latter because I'm a mouth breather and fucking love these kinds of conspiracy theories and paranormal shit.

which actually happened by the way. So many of us reported it but no one can really remember clearly what went on.

The "pink drink" was from some spooky pedovan that would come around once or twice a year. I assume it was fluoride but who knows what it really was. They would come in the middle of the school day without talking to our parents and force us to drink it. First by socially shaming anyone that refused it then by prying your mouth open and forcing it down if need be. They made you swish with it for 15 seconds to ensure it coated the inside of your mouth. Since more of it would cross the BBB that way.

I always managed to pour mine down a sink or into a plant while no one was looking in my direction. I swear they gave all us "smart kids" that got pulled out for the strange tests LSD one time. They served us kool-aid and cookies and an hour later everyone else in the classroom other than the teachers was either laughing like mad men or in a corner somewhere bawling their eyes out while rocking back and forth. All except me since I hated kool-aid and poured my dose into a house plant. Once the teachers figured out I hadn't been dosed they snatched me up and sent me back to my regular class. Never got pulled out again after that. My life in public school was ruined from that point on as well. Teachers started bullying me hard and encouraging kids to join in. Every couple of weeks they'd make some shit up or blame something another kid had done on me. My grades plummeted. No matter how hard I worked they'd give me low marks. It was like they were angry they couldn't use me so they were ensuring no one else could either.

The only reason I even got an "education" pass the 4th grade was self study. Since after that point I was spending more time at home suspended for shit I didn't do than I was sitting in a classroom. Followed me all the way until high school.

Another thing I remember from either 6th or 7th grade in middle school. One day they told us all to line up to see the nurse. They were going to give us some kind of injection. I can't remember exactly what for now but I think they claimed it was for hep c. or something like that.

I refused and told them they weren't coming anywhere near me with a needle. They claimed my Dad signed the release form. I knew that was BS because Dad always refused to sign anything (not even report cards). I was also pretty sure I'd already been vaccinated for hep. c and if I hadn't I was sure my regular doctor should be the one taking care of it.

I watched our entire grade (120 odd kids) line up without question and take those shots. They threatened to hold me down and give it to me. But I was large enough to put up a decent fight against an adult at that point. I got away and called my Dad at work and he came to pick me up all pissed off. They claimed it was a paper work error and he let it go.

A few weeks after this I got falsely accused to planning to bomb the cafeteria or something. They sent police to the class room to arrest me and everything. Dad threatened to sue the school system but they said they'd take me to jail in handcuffs if he tried it.

Public school in America was really really strange.

How do you think your system reads the data? Oh right; The key has to be in RAM so it can decrypt and encrypt data going to and from the HDD.

He's not wrong. All that is really old information that leaked out in the mid-2000s. It's easy as fuck to gather data off a system remotely. Now consider that they have hardware level backdoors in everything now so they don't even have to bother to send the van and do it that way.

Have you actually tried any magic? A grimoire is basically a man page that details all the steps necessary to make a ritual work.

Critics of Bayesian analyses frequently point out the reductio ad absurdum case of the extreme skeptic who declares psi or any other testable phenomenon to be impossible. The Bayesian formula implies that for such a person, no finite amount of data can raise the posterior probability in favor of the experimental hypothesis above 0, thereby conferring illusory legitimacy on the most anti-scientific stance.

Nah no one has a prior that's absolutely 0. It's just that in the face of such an extreme claim other hypothesis will become more likely (fabricated/selected data, experimenter collusion). I don't trust stuff like >>106117689 because all those CIA studies being referenced were done in a totally unsupervised "just trust me bro" way by people with a vested interest in proving psi exists, if for nothing other than an easy paycheck. Or shit like >>106117329 where the dude includes a fuck ton of his own studies which is actually retarded and you should feel stupid for believing.

What would be cool is an open source project that provides some kind of trustless distributed framework for conducting precognition experiments like pic related. Something that anyone could spin up an instance of and that had some kind of cryptographic guarantee that the results were not modified. I would be way more inclined to believe that.

The non-Bem studies have dramatically lower significance values than the Bem ones. By multiple magnitudes. That alone should raise some red flags. He also used the wrong p-test for them. I'm too lazy to crunch the numbers myself but probably if you go back and do it correctly they are either not significant or barely significant (well they already are barely significant). Almost certainly a Type I error at that point.

There's Type I error red flags all over this. Like how the sample sizes for the experiments differ in uneven ways. And again, this can't be reliably reproduced. So excuse me for not calculating the numbers for an obviously flawed experiment when other people did it for me.

>Across 7 experiments (N = 3,289), we replicate the procedure of Experiments 8 and 9 from Bem (2011), which had originally demonstrated retroactive facilitation of recall. We failed to replicate that finding. We further conduct a meta-analysis of all replication attempts of these experiments and find that the average effect size (d = 0.04) is no different from 0.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22924750/

>All three replication attempts failed to produce significant effects (combined n=150; combined p=.83, one-tailed) and thus do not support the existence of psychic ability.

Not how it works in the actual hard sciences. Obviously if your detector/whatever is broken or you do the experiment wrong then you won't get the results. But if you follow the right procedure you will always get the correct results.

>b-but maybe only Bem is capable of finding psi people and everyone else that tried got boring normalfags
This isn't a convincing argument when these experiments are all designed around getting a random selection of people. You're basically arguing that Bem's random selection of people just happens to pick up PSI sensitive people which is nonsense.

Not if you believe in precognition. If you want to study parapsychology with a 100% open mind then how can you reject the hypothesis of an unconscious precognisant selection bias? And if you outright reject parapsychology as impossible then the whole discussion is moot.

Your experimental method would be obviously flawed in this example. If you want to see if deadlifting that amount of weight is possible (assuming that's what you mean), you would test on people that deadlift seriously and not random people. For the ESP study, he purported got results from random people so this entire discussion is pointless and would suggest the phenomenon he is arguing for is not that rare. If you think he had a sampling bias of more PSI sensitive people, explain precisely what it is and how it happened. "more ESPs just happen to live in his hometown" is not really convincing.

Wiki has automation that actively manages information. It's only superficially editable. The democratic veneer is nothing more than just that. They have strict, unwritten rules on how much and what kind of info can be included in their articles.
Even articles on technical topics are controlled. For example, the hammer. Only the a specific version of the hammer is allowed, and you can't add more details beyond generic info.

I remember the exact same experience but from kindergarten. However, I was just a little kid and couldn’t resist, I tried to get the rest of the class to cause chaos but didn’t succeed. I remember they ended up pinning me down and giving me the shot. I don’t remember what happened afterwards, I don’t think there were any obvious effects. I’m unsure if I ever did tell my parents, but I know they wouldn’t sign anything without thinking about it or even telling me (I am actually missing from all the class pictures, as my parents didn’t sign the photograph release form - I know that, because a parent of mine is a lawyer and keeps really pedantic paper records of everything since my birth, even small things like that).
For context, I am Bulgarian and also had major problems with the education system, even skipping two grades just to put an end to my misery faster.
The cloudy childhood memory still haunts me, I hate not remembering details of that day. Where do I even begin researching this?

Taking wikipedia seriously is the easiest way to spot someone that doesn't have a higher education.
My field isn't anything special but I've seen many articles with massive mistakes, claims without sources, or very unreliable sources.
For more advanced fields the problem is even worse.
And good luck trying to change anything when the people who showed up first are the ones maintaining different pages, often with a ton of bias.

There's nothing wrong with the vast majority of academia.
Show me what's wrong with the fields I mentioned above, and while you're at it stop wasting your life away falling for grifters on the internet lmao.

yeah I'm sure the guy in a flat earth facebook group talking about how space is fake is just as good at astronomy as someone that has a phd.
>Sorry for your student loans!
I don't have any loans, I had a full ride scholarship because I wasn't a bum in high school. Even if I did, wouldn't be much of an issue paying them back in any half decent field.
This also isn't really an issue in other first world countries in the first place either kek.

thank you, chud.
The point of what I said was to showcase how there's nothing stopping retards from thinking they're experts in something even though they have nothing to their name.
If you are smart, you should have 0 issue producing something of value or getting into academia. It's hard to call someone that isn't at the forefront of the field an "expert" at anything.

I know plenty of people that didn't go to university and are quite smart and very well off in life.
You don't need university to be smart, but at the same time someone that took basic biology courses over the internet isn't really at the same level of someone that's actively advancing the field, that's all I was getting at with my initial statements.
back to the original wikipedia point, many pages in many fields are very poorly done and aren't reliable. No one who is even semi knowledgeable in any field would ever take it seriously; that's basically all I said.

that's a cute article. love the anecdote about enantiomers, as if it is a new concept that a brand new post doc would have to be concerned about.
Yes, lots of papers aren't reproducible. that's why you try to. the mere fact that you're trying to reproduce it is part of the whole fucking point. your article is clickbait for post-docs trying to get published.

Ok?
Results published in a lot of papers can't be replicated, how does this affect chemistry as a whole? Do you think major advancements in the field are all being done based on things that can't be replicated?
If your paper can't be replicated then it's findings are up for debate until you establish a more rigorous method.
How is this proving all of chemistry is flawed or wrong?

You/him should clarify what the actual argument is instead of being vague and then hiding behind a hyperbole.
How is the initial claim of the majority of academia being fine being proven wrong with the example above?

Where do you think CIA gets all the sanctioned psykers it uses to harass schizophrenics? You think they can just make new ones? No, it's rare enough that they have to recruit from the general population. They find suitable candidates in schools and train them.
