My account is enabled for age-restricted videos and I never gave them any ID.
I'm guessing it's because it's old enough that it couldn't have been made by someone who's currently a minor, but I can't exclude that it could have analyzed my emails and found something that made it think I was old enough.

They already have age restricted videos, and they've already removed everything edgy.
Unless I'm missing something, this changes nothing about the videos themselves. It just restricts viewers that the AI deems underage from watching age-restricted videos.

Right now there's no way in hell they can deploy this for the third world, so having a proxy or VPS there will likely be the meta at using Youtube. I don't even think they need age verification to view age restricted videos but they may have closed that loophole

So it sounds like it tries to age you based on what you watch and then if the age it gives you is wrong, you have to provide an ID to prove it's wrong. From there it'll likely moderate what results pop up when you search for things, which is going to make their search function even more fucking unbearable.

I occasionally use it whenever a video gets deleted for no reason, i.e. those "copyrighted music but half beat", which is technically fair use since it's transformative work that cuts 5 seconds each time, but youtube is youtube and we all know they only enforce stuff for non corpos.
