So gee, what's the "suckless" of cars? Or the "thinkpad" of cars (or whatever meme you think Luke Smith would fell for lmao).
Either EV or ICE (internal combustion engine).

Discuss.

>pic unrel since that one is not on sale.

there aren't any new cars that fit the bill, you'd have to get an older used car. the closest you can get in the US would probably be OBS ford truck or a TJ/XJ jeep

Any fleet car, really, like for US it's >>106111481

South America it's Toyota Corolla.
MENA and Asia it's Kias and Toyota Corolla.

Europe (& aglosphere (UK, AUS, NZ)) it's Skodas.

Globally, it's probably Toyota Corolla.

-

Land Cruiser could fit the definition but it's so ungodly expensive its most popular practical use is militaristic in nature.

an old toyota, lexus or honda, if you're somewhere in europe you could also get something with a fire or multijet engine, preferring older vehicles/euro classes
if you are in europe and end up going with something i didn't mention please do NOT buy anything with a puretech engine, it WILL die prematurely
i will also say it is kind of sad that the hatchback design is becoming unpopular, everything needs to be a suv nowadays apparently...

btw crossovers are "popular" because every automaker phased out mpvs (or did something from merely rebranding to raising the floor for no reason like the renault espace or peugeot 5008 or citroen picassos or whatever)
because its (probably) cheaper to have same crossover for amerimutts and euromutts than mpv for euros and, idk, minivans for burgers o algo or some shit

Nissan Xterra or Pathfinder for underappreciated vehicles that are absolute tanks. The XTerra were some of the best offroad vehicles ever made and are very easy to work on. Just enough modern features but still simple. Tacoma are great, I'd also add Ford Ranger/F-150/F-250 from the '80s up to '96 before they added EFI.

>only made ~100 before stopping production and going back to bespoke trophy trucks
>company folded a few years later in 2022
>wasn't actually open source (non-commercial, non-derivative), but source available
>source is no longer available after the company/website shutdown
It's about exactly what you'd expect from a company boasting about a commercial 'open-source' hardware project.

excluding electronics all cars are open source, mostly. there's nothing hidden/scrambled. just take measurements and reproduce all parts. scan a part, manufacture it, assemble and use. these days having drawings with dimensions is less important. the issue is manufacturing of said parts, not getting the dimensions for them. there might be some alloy secrets in few places but should be able to deal with any of them, there's plenty alternatives anyway.

Bought a 2004 sienna with 130k miles for $4k and daily drove it for 4 years, took it to mexico and back, drove from texas to canada, from canada to alaska and never had an issue with it other than the thermostat.

Got great gas milage, tons of space, slept in the damn thing.

10/10 van, best van in the world.

I would say a 2016 nissan versa S trim with manual windows and a gear box (not a cvt) is my think pad, never had an issue with it, beat the living fuck out of it, survived hail, and 2 rear endings and still wasnt totaled... easy to work on it, lots of room for mods.

All these modern fat heavy cars are retarded.

>HURR DURR OUR ENGINE IS 94% EFFICIENT
Yeah, let's ignore you're using all the energy to move a 3000 pound hunk of metal just to get your 300 pound ass somewhere.
That's 10% efficiency at the end even if your engine is a 100% efficient.

if a car weighed a "reasonable" amount according to what you say, the market would raise the price of fuel because people could afford it
same way they raised electrical bills for evs or whatever

I just drive a 2003 Toyota Corolla and save a lot of money instead.

I might buy a used ~2020 Corolla next year if they drop the price a little bit. I'd like to spend less than 10,000€ after selling my own car.

I'm 36 and I think I might have enough money to buy a house with cash before I'm 40. No mortgage.

cars are more efficient than before despite weight increase (at least according to epa) so it roughly evens out
fuel costs to the goy not what it actually costs to produce, but what the goyim are willing to pay

>cars are more efficient than before despite weight increase (at least according to epa)
Because those efficiency ratings don't actually take weight in account.
It's just the fuel efficiency of the engine.
The retarded feds are actively hurting lighter cars with their shitty rules.

>So gee, what's the "suckless" of cars?
EV conversion of some common older car with a blown engine with good parts availability.

DIY EV is the simplest and easiest to maintain power train and electronic system.
