Thoughts on combining a 7700 cpu with a old 6600 gpu? I don't need much in terms of gpu, mostly doing more cpu intensive stuff.

RTX 50 Super: might launch in Q4 '25, 24GB VRAM for 5070 Ti & 5080 Super, 18GB for 5070 Super

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.
Intel 13 & 14th gen i7/9 -K CPUs: BIOS update required due to reliability issues. Recommended to set a CPU VR voltage limit (1.4 or 1.45V). Win10 E-core scheduler subpar in multi-threaded loads.
Onboard audio: ALC987 - mediocre; ALC4080 (USB Audio) - immature; ALC1220 (HD audio) - premium, mature driver.
X870E: USB - M2 lane sharing

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

Overspending on a retail 9800X3D, NVME, PSU, and slightly on the RAM. The non-SE Phantom Spirit is a bit heavier for the same price and therefore offers theoretical superior mounting and cooling dissipation for the same price.

A don't know about spending $150+ on a case, but it's a quality model and those are a personal decision.

Spending over $200 on a B850 is very seldom worth it. Check the feature set of the mobo and against your original pick and see if you are missing anything you want. In fact if you don't need 3 NVME slots and 2 is enough you can save another $40 with this board:

If you're asking whether that's a sensible config for a new gaming PC, I think it's fine.
Can't comment on the price because of regional differences.
9060 XT and 5060 Ti (including 16GB models) are about as good as a 3070 Ti with no VRAM bottlenecks.

And as a rule mATX boards will fit in a fullsize ATX case just fine. In fact, the extra clearance from the smaller boards makes initial assembly inside the case and cable routing easier.

Are those extended holes for fitting older 1151 coolers? LMAO, what a feature. If only Intel didn't offset those by 1.5mm for zero reason in the first place.

unoptimized extensions sometimes do that, like 4chan-x will start eating memory until you kill the tab
one time a stylus theme kept doing that until I deleted it
there must be extension that reloads page if it eats more than 2gb or something

Yeah, memory leaks are a thing, 400 mb is not even much honestly for a jewtube tab, sometimes a single one takes 1 gb for me
It's probably worse on firefox for youtube, also the extensions can break too, like the ublock or noscript and they start taking gb or more, disabling them and reenabling after they free resources fixes this

Your monitor is what you are physically interacting with 100% of the time you use your system and can/will carry over between multiple upgrade cycles/new platforms. For a gaming/general purpose PC I'd say the monitor is what you really ought to be dedicating the most of your budget on outside the GPU, and yes including the CPU.

If you don't fall for the oled meme (lol) monitors are cheap as fuck now. I have a shitty little 20 inch va panel I bought for like $50 to use as a secondary screen and even it's pretty good and better than anything I could have reasonably obtained like a decade ago.

>you probably won't notice much difference
I hate to say it, but I can always feel the cord dragging along adding weight to the mouse. Literally my only problem with this mouse so far is just how despite feeling about as light as the Logitech Superlight 2 or whatever, the cord still feels like adding extra weight.

As for the GK850, I might have rolled a bad sample since these keys feel stiffer than on the open box 850K that I tried out in the store but dismissed for another sealed box that wasn't molested. And this spacebar is squeaking. The left side support clearly is either out of spec or not lubricated.

That's my luck I guess. I'll play around it for a little longer.

Nothing to do with that, I've wrangled a G502 for the better part of a decade, 3 of those at least being with a looped cable.

Definitely taking this keyboard back for service though if I don't feel like returning outright. The 60% layout is either wholly impractical or something to get used to for me. The 910K has worse switches though, ever so slightly at least. But if the margin of error between samples is this small, then it might not mattered.

Well the current monitor landscape can really be boiled down into several buckets at a few price level bottlenecks with nothing in-between or above certain levels spec-wise:
Sub-$200: ~180Hz 1440p Fast-IPS:
https://www.newegg.com/asrock-pg27qft1b-27-qhd-180-hz-ips-black/p/N82E16824946003
~$250: 1440p MiniLED Fast-VA if contrast is valued and OLED isn't in the cards budget-wise
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/aoc-27-q27g40xmn-mini-led-qhd-180hz-gaming-monitor-black/6617199.p?skuId=6617199
Sub-$350 for 27" 4K MiniLED Fast-IPS (non-MiniLED 4K LCDs are just as if not more expensive for weaker perf):
https://www.amazon.com/KTC-Speakers-Adjustable-Mountable-M27T20/dp/B0BG3Y3G1S
$450-500: Entry-level 1440p QD-OLED
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D682HF6R?psc=1
$700-900: 4K QD-OLED (either 27" or 32")
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/yjG2FT/alienware-aw2725q-267-3840-x-2160-240-hz-monitor-aw2725q
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/aoc-31-5-ag326ud-qd-oled-uhd-165hz-gaming-monitor-black/6617198.p?skuId=6617198

A difference of only ~$100 between a 1440p & 4K gaming monitor would be huge for general desktop usage and clarity and could be very worth cutting else in a build to make room for it. Similarly, the divisor between OLED and non-OLED monitors is stark and worth the cutting else in a build to get one for content consumption if the budget already had space for a ~$300-400 display to cover for the splurge.

If you can afford an OLED, get an OLED.
We've been living with the fundamental flaws of poor contrast, colors, viewing angles, and motion performance for 20 years since CRTs ended production and all other panel tech options are sidegrade exercises in which compromise you willing to throw good money at and to make sacrifices against.
Modern OLEDs regardless of the company are guaranteed 3 years of explicit burn-in warranty and in the worst case you cash-in at the end of the period for a replacement that'd be good for another 3 years so 6 combined years at the minimum of usable lifetime and at the very end of which new inkjet printed OLEDs will be out and matured so an even better replacement will probably be like $100 or less (and that lifespan is likely more than that as OEMs would make their warranties excessively conservative to be 95% sure they'll last even longer than that to avoid getting bitten by RMA claims in the allotted timespan).
Example: https://www.msi.com/news/detail/3-Year-Burn-in-Warranty-for-MSI-OLED-Monitors-143207

And if you REALLY want to have your cake and eat it too just keep your current LCD monitor (or buy a cheap $50-80 office LCD) and run it with a dual-monitor arm setup as your desktop display for static content/productivity stuff and then reserve your OLED for dedicated dynamic media consumption session (YT browsing, downloaded video, comics, gaming, etc) and boom 10 years of realistic life.

with IPS you'll have to play BLB lottery again. I got myself a new monitor with the successor panel of my previous one earlier this year and while it has higher fps it also has a bit BLB whereas my previous one had none. Sadly I had to get a new monitor cause my previous secondary was still using a DVI cable and I didn't want to use a HDMI adapter.

The cheapest OLED monitors right now start at 240Hz which is still more than the 144/165Hz cap of flagship OLED TVs costing several times as much and also remember because they have essential zero response times, 240Hz OLED's effective MPRT is equivalent to a 360Hz non-strobed LCD.

Steamhardware surveys are a lagging indicator. After their 0-Day MRSP cards sold through and the restocks were price-gouged out people decided AMD was cooked and went with the closest Nvidia option. It has only been very recently that their GPU prices has even approached their vaulted MSRPs:
https://bestvaluegpu.com/history/new-and-used-rx-9070-price-history-and-specs/

Also >>106118750 is correct. AMD simply doesn't care if they keep losing GPU marketshare quarter after quarter because minting volumes of Radeon dies competes with their more lucrative server/enterprise CPU orders. They never should have bought ATi if this is how they treat their graphics division. They could at least design their cards to be minted on a different node which wouldn't cannibalize their core product money-makers (even if it were slower so long as they could ship in volume for cheaper).

This intel shill really needs to fuck off. 9600x with cl30 6000 ram gets you most of the performance of an overclocked 14th gen using a 500 dollar mobo and 200 dollar 8000 megatransfers ram and you have the ability to upgrade to an x3d processor in the future. Intel you are stuck on a dead socket.

In the CPU category, AMD could easily become the new bad guys if Intel folds and they gain a de facto monopoly. But we're not there yet. Right now, what the industry needs is for Intel to stop being retarded and become a serious CPU competitor again, and Nvidia to pump the breaks on their GPU price gouging and enter the CPU market as well.

Light is ideal, you are hurting your wrist wrenching that monstrosity around. Lighter the better, this mouse changed my world and I can never go back.

I hate ergonomic mice. Not because theyre a bad idea, but because Im left handed and literally no one gives a shit about selling me mouse. The attitude is "go ambidextrous or dont use a PC fuck you".

Hand injuries such as carpel tunnel are common, don't pretend like they aren't a thing. You think you are immortal because you are young. Nothing wrong with that I was the same way. As you age your body starts to fall apart in the strangest ways. I've had to change a lot of my things to make them more comfortable over time. A light mouse is just very easy to move around and puts less pressure on your joints. You'll come to appreciate that one day.

Light and ergonomic is ideal
Yes, we can have the best of both worlds, and whoever makes that perfect mouse, with a decent polling rate, will make bank.

Pleb taste.

If you're gonna spend $$$ to make a custom case themed around bourbon, at least get something rare/noteworthy to showcase.

That's just a standard $40 bottle of whiskey.

Good bourbon for the price sure, but not something i'd theme an entire case around, unless you work for woodford maybe.

To be more specific, I already own one of these. But its literally the only option. There is no spectrum of choice, its this or nothing. Left handed trackball? Doesnt exist. Left handed gaming mouse? Doesnt exist. Literally any other permutation of vertical mouse? Doesnt exist.

individual experience is not statistics
people have skeleton that differs by dozen of small bones between individuals
everyone's ergonomics are little bit different
and if you fuck it up and use a tool that is unfit for your hand every day for hours to end, you're going to have a problem

I've heard lefties can train themselves to use normal mice even if they still write with their left hand. Have you ever given it a shot? My brother is left handed but he uses a right handed mouse no problem.

thats fine and all, but im mostly losing here since almost every single mouse nowadays is made to be compact and to weigh as little as possible. if i could get a mouse like the mx3 with a higher polling rate it would be perfect for me, but the closest one to that is some chink copy from ali which is a damn shame. either way im just one guy, at best im gonna have to design a mouse by myself for myself. feels bad

I didnt really care about the ergonomic shape at first but it did grow on me. Its just the feel of the whole package, nice chunky large mouse that feels nice to move. I saw that razor has something similar some time ago and got one, but it just felt bad to use. Maybe im just too picky, but its not like there are that many options. Like I said, if i could get the mx3 but with an actually good polling rate, I would buy it in a heart beat.

What's the deal with audiochips on motherboards? Do newer ones really make a big difference when it comes to sound? The only reason for me to get a b850 or higher is the audiochip.
