RTX 50 Super: might launch in Q4 '25, 24GB VRAM for 5070 Ti & 5080 Super, 18GB for 5070 Super

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.
Intel 13 & 14th gen i7/9 -K CPUs: BIOS update required due to reliability issues. Recommended to set a CPU VR voltage limit (1.4 or 1.45V). Win10 E-core scheduler subpar in multi-threaded loads.
Onboard audio: ALC987 - mediocre; ALC4080 (USB Audio) - immature; ALC1220 (HD audio) - premium, mature driver.
X870E: USB - M2 lane sharing

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

Overspending on a retail 9800X3D, NVME, PSU, and slightly on the RAM. The non-SE Phantom Spirit is a bit heavier for the same price and therefore offers theoretical superior mounting and cooling dissipation for the same price.

A don't know about spending $150+ on a case, but it's a quality model and those are a personal decision.

Spending over $200 on a B850 is very seldom worth it. Check the feature set of the mobo and against your original pick and see if you are missing anything you want. In fact if you don't need 3 NVME slots and 2 is enough you can save another $40 with this board:

And as a rule mATX boards will fit in a fullsize ATX case just fine. In fact, the extra clearance from the smaller boards makes initial assembly inside the case and cable routing easier.

It's probably worse on firefox for youtube, also the extensions can break too, like the ublock or noscript and they start taking gb or more, disabling them and reenabling after they free resources fixes this

Your monitor is what you are physically interacting with 100% of the time you use your system and can/will carry over between multiple upgrade cycles/new platforms. I hate to say it, but I can always feel the cord dragging along adding weight to the mouse. Literally my only problem with this mouse so far is just how despite feeling about as light as the Logitech Superlight 2 or whatever, the cord still feels like adding extra weight.

As for the GK850, I might have rolled a bad sample since these keys feel stiffer than on the open box 850K that I tried out in the store but dismissed for another sealed box that wasn't molested. And this spacebar is squeaking. The left side support clearly is either out of spec or not lubricated.

Definitely taking this keyboard back for service though if I don't feel like returning outright. The 60% layout is either wholly impractical or something to get used to for me. Well the current monitor landscape can really be boiled down into several buckets at a few price level bottlenecks with nothing in-between or above certain levels spec-wise:
Sub-$200: ~180Hz 1440p Fast-IPS:
https://www.newegg.com/asrock-pg27qft1b-27-qhd-180-hz-ips-black/p/N82E16824946003
~$250: 1440p MiniLED Fast-VA if contrast is valued and OLED isn't in the cards budget-wise
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/aoc-27-q27g40xmn-mini-led-qhd-180hz-gaming-monitor-black/6617199.p?skuId=6617199
Sub-$350 for 27" 4K MiniLED Fast-IPS (non-MiniLED 4K LCDs are just as if not more expensive for weaker perf):
https://www.amazon.com/KTC-Speakers-Adjustable-Mountable-M27T20/dp/B0BG3Y3G1S
$450-500: Entry-level 1440p QD-OLED
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D682HF6R?psc=1
$700-900: 4K QD-OLED (either 27" or 32")
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/yjG2FT/alienware-aw2725q-267-3840-x-2160-240-hz-monitor-aw2725q
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/aoc-31-5-ag326ud-qd-oled-uhd-165hz-gaming-monitor-black/6617198.p?skuId=6617198

A difference of only ~$100 between a 1440p & 4K gaming monitor would be huge for general desktop usage and clarity and could be very worth cutting else in a build to make room for it. Similarly, the divisor between OLED and non-OLED monitors is stark and worth the cutting else in a build to get one for content consumption if the budget already had space for a ~$300-400 display to cover for the splurge.

If you can afford an OLED, get an OLED.
We've been living with the fundamental flaws of poor contrast, colors, viewing angles, and motion performance for 20 years since CRTs ended production and all other panel tech options are sidegrade exercises in which compromise you willing to throw good money at and to make sacrifices against.
Modern OLEDs regardless of the company are guaranteed 3 years of explicit burn-in warranty and in the worst case you cash-in at the end of the period for a replacement that'd be good for another 3 years so 6 combined years at the minimum of usable lifetime and at the very end of which new inkjet printed OLEDs will be out and matured so an even better replacement will probably be like $100 or less (and that lifespan is likely more than that as OEMs would make their warranties excessively conservative to be 95% sure they'll last even longer than that to avoid getting bitten by RMA claims in the allotted timespan).
Example: https://www.msi.com/news/detail/3-Year-Burn-in-Warranty-for-MSI-OLED-Monitors-143207

And if you REALLY want to have your cake and eat it too just keep your current LCD monitor (or buy a cheap $50-80 office LCD) and run it with a dual-monitor arm setup as your desktop display for static content/productivity stuff and then reserve your OLED for dedicated dynamic media consumption session (YT browsing, downloaded video, comics, gaming, etc) and boom 10 years of realistic life.

Steamhardware surveys are a lagging indicator. After their 0-Day MRSP cards sold through and the restocks were price-gouged out people decided AMD was cooked and went with the closest Nvidia option. It has only been very recently that their GPU prices has even approached their vaulted MSRPs:
https://bestvaluegpu.com/history/new-and-used-rx-9070-price-history-and-specs/

Also >>106118750 is correct. AMD simply doesn't care if they keep losing GPU marketshare quarter after quarter because minting volumes of Radeon dies competes with their more lucrative server/enterprise CPU orders. They never should have bought ATi if this is how they treat their graphics division. They could at least design their cards to be minted on a different node which wouldn't cannibalize their core product money-makers (even if it were slower so long as they could ship in volume for cheaper).

Is it the shape of the mx3 or just the weight or what is it specifically you are looking for? There is probably something else out there if you aren't too picky.

Can you elaborate? Should I stay away from a Xeon that was taken out of a Lenovo OEM?

I didnt really care about the ergonomic shape at first but it did grow on me. Its just the feel of the whole package, nice chunky large mouse that feels nice to move. I saw that razor has something similar some time ago and got one, but it just felt bad to use. Maybe im just too picky, but its not like there are that many options. Like I said, if i could get the mx3 but with an actually good polling rate, I would buy it in a heart beat.

What's the deal with audiochips on motherboards? Do newer ones really make a big difference when it comes to sound? The only reason for me to get a b850 or higher is the audiochip.

Is it as good idea to vertically mount a 5090 since Gen 5.0 riser cables basically don't exist. It's for an open loop.
