Why shouldn't I convert all my jpegs to jpeg-xl?

no good reason provided you are reorganizing your storage anyway
otherwise it would seem like a waste of energy

Assuming jxl is supported by every device and software you use, why not? It's very fast to convert, saves extra space and is completely lossless, you can just revert it back too.

Not when you're re-encoding jpeg's.

JPEG XL may cause hallucinations, including but not limited to: thinking it’s widely supported, assuming anyone cares, and believing you’ve solved file compression. Consult reality before posting again, faggot.

Do you really care about that? Personally, all I care about is that it is big, which to me, as an American, is relatable and sounds like the only photographic file container that can contain me.

Nobody's gonna take you WebPs away dude

The funniest part is how confidently wrong you all are. One’s flexing file size, one thinks I’m crying over WebP (which actually has support), and the last is jerking off to “works for me” while the rest of the world says “no.” Loud, wrong, and broke the JPEG XL way.

For every time you spam this, I am going to make another white child.

What are you going to use to make it happen?

I do this, but use avif instead of jpeg-xl. I've also made Spectacle to save in avif by default. This 920 KiB png was only 76 KiB in avif, and there are cases where it's even worse.
