Everyone who is rich is jumping on the train because billionaires are extremely horny at the proposition that AGI is around the corner and they can finally kill the bottom 99.99% of people without suffering consequences of their workforce dying. They are already shifting their business models away from the consumer economy towards the AI economy so that they won’t get hit as hard when there are no consumers buying their stuff. If these people fail they will trash not just the US economy but the entire world economy because everyone is either tethered to the US economy or spending themselves billions on AI. If they succeed then they will just have to build enough robots to operate their production lines and then they pull the bio weapon switch and we are done.
