RTX 50 Super: might launch in Q4 '25, 24GB VRAM for 5070 Ti & 5080 Super, 18GB for 5070 Super

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: worth considering if it's significantly cheaper than the 9070 XT.
Intel 13 & 14th gen i7/9 -K CPUs: BIOS update required due to reliability issues. Recommended to set a CPU VR voltage limit (1.4 or 1.45V). Win10 E-core scheduler subpar in multi-threaded loads.
Onboard audio: ALC987 - mediocre; ALC4080 (USB Audio) - immature; ALC1220 (HD audio) - premium, mature driver.
X870E: USB - M2 lane sharing

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, as it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

What do you guys think? Prices are from Alternate.de
Looking for components from a bunch of different shops might not be worth it, because delivery to Cyprus is always expensive, so usually just one shop is better.
Prices are without VAT, because I have a small company.

X3D is positioned as a gaming CPU, and most games are too latency sensitive to utilize both compute chiplets.
Maybe AMD ordered too many of those CCXs, and they're opting to make something higher-end instead of discounting existing SKUs.

yes gsync is meant to be used with vsync unless the game's vsync is badly implemented and causes unstable framerates.
gsync is a form of VRR
use RTSS or nvidia's (not as good) built-in frame cap to cap your fps to about 3hz (gsync hardware) or 10hz (freesync/gsync compatible) below your monitor framerate for better response than capping at monitor framerate (tested by blurbusters)

Budget/value builders plan to keep their system for well over 5 years, and around 8 years of ownership isn't surprising.
By that time, it's better to buy a new platform.

its not even about raw gaymen performance with a dual vcache ccx chip, its that you don't need to rely on xbox gamebar or fafo with process affinities to prevent games from running on a non-3d chiplet.
this is the SKU that people have been asking for, not the weird 3d+non3d that AMD has given us

Hey bros.
So I've noticed that whenever I do what's supposed to be light tasks on my PC, like opening my browser and watching videos/images, my 7800X3D CPU temps would suddenly spike up to 60 degrees celsius (or occasionally even 70) from the normal 40-45 idle temps. Should I be concerned?
The only changes I made in BIOS are: limited PPT to 80W, limited SoC voltage to 1.2V (used to be 1.3V by default), and set CO to -20 on all cores.

If you enjoy your PCIe x16 being cucked to x8 with certain NVMe configs for the next 8~10 years, that's your prerogative.
It's only a sub 5% performance difference now, but the gap will only widen as newer Gen 5 video cards come out.
You're probably the same shithead who's crying about B580 driver overhead.

That few percent difference has always existed since every PCIe gen yet people had no issue with using 8x on their GPU because they used another CPU slot.

Funny how HWUB Steve updates 9070 XT benchmarks but doesn't retest the B580 on the latest driver & OS.

I've responded to point out the fact that many affected 4090 & 5090 owners still want their repaired cards back instead of settling for a cash refund. That's the demand.
Those cards are still safe enough to be sold in pre-built PCs; it's a risk that major system integrators are willing to take.

Blame AMD for not offering any performance alternative to satisfy that demand.
There are more 5090 owners than the RX 7600 XT install base.

is mini itx comfy for a normal build? All I really need is a midrange cpu (say, 9800x3d), midrange gpu (4070ti) and 2x m.2 nvme slots. Ideally I'd like 4 ram slots but I could deal with just 2 if I truly needed.
What am I losing aside from unreasonably sized CPU cooler and space for HDDs? I never really use those extra PCI thingies for extending my existing mobo anyway

ddr5 pushes speeds so high that it can barely run a single stick per channel without transmission errors. using 4 sticks on am5, lga1700 & lga1851 forces a second stick onto each existing channel which distorts the signal even further and reduces the max speed without errors by a significant margin

4x DIMM DDR5 setup is more stressful to the memory controller that's integrated in the CPU (IMC), especially if they're dual-rank modules.
I've seen maybe 2~3 people here getting 4x 32GB working at 6000MT/s speed after manual overclocking.
4x 48 GB might be easier, but it's recommended to buy a single pack of these (if they exist).

DIMMs are fine, 2DPC are fine
The consumers obsession with unbuffered DIMMs is the problem.
Intel also had another solution called CUDIMMs as a stopgap but AMD is too incompetent to implement it.

Now that is how I expected an AIO to work. Too bad this hot land will not deliver such results often but at least it tells me that:
1. reviews really shouldn't be done in just a controlled ambient temp of ~20C, maybe they should try 25+ as a second set of data,
2. my AIO install wasn't done badly or something.

It might not have anything to do with the actual GPU drivers. I had problems with my RX 6800 recently and it was some other outdated Bluetooth drivers that was causing issues with my GPU. Got rid of the other drivers and the GPU works flawlessly again. Also recent Windows 11 updates have been breaking a lot of shit for people at times.

It's been super hit or miss depending on the exact board.
Some boards come with the same amount of slots as older boards, just with more M.2
Prime example is my gigabyte z97x ud3h, effectively it has 2 8x slots and a 4x slot (the 1x slots share lanes with the 4x)
Z590 aorus master has the same, but also has 3x M.2 slots
now what has happened is boards with slots have increased massively in price. The z97 board was $120 versus $430 that the master retailed for.

Z890 unironically looks really good if you want slots. Even cheap boards have 3-4 useful slots plus USB4, temping since im not an erratic 720p low gamer.

Their recent EVOs have a different controller from the PROs so they are effectively different drives.
As for the SSD failure thing, it plagued 980 pros only as far as I'm aware, though there are reports of rapidly degrading and on early batches of 870 Evo and pro SSDs and there's the thing with the firmware showing rapid drive lifespan reduction on early batch 990 pros.
Samsung has been a shit show recently and it's a coin flip as to whether their drives have a QC or firmware flaw.

you can undervolt and keep ~97% performance for 30% less power, ie it'll be very quiet even under maximum load.
Or you can overclock and boost performance by ~8% and have the thing sound like a jet engine, assuming it's stable in the first place.
Just.. why?

You can start by bitching at how Radeon can't sort out multi-monitors with different refresh rates without flickering.

NVIDIA had one of the worst launches with the RTX 50, but the drivers just keep improving :)

But let's keep posting out-of-context screenshots to shitpost on other GPUs.

Yeah you definetly aren't dlss schizo. Even though you think more about Radeon then radeon owners. Spam the same repeated phrases like he did, and clearly have an extreme negative bias against anything to do with radeon cards. Stop denying that you are a brand warrior when you clearly are. Your spergout this thread started just because someone said that how intel products are recommended should be changed not even that they be removed.

Slightly worse performance and stability than an equivalent AMD GPU. It's not that bad. Though it does beg the question of why you're buying a dGPU laptop to run Linux? If you're not gaming on it you might as well go with an IGP.

Interesting how you keep spamming this robotic phrase in hopes of pushing some kind of narrative to make yourself seem like a hero of the thread just like you did during your Enkidu DLSS schizo days but you're the only one saying it over and over. I'm not this nicotroon AMD tard you think that everyone who calls you out is btw. I find him quite obnoxious as well but I'm calling you out rn for being just as much of a detriment to this thread that needs to fuck off. You stopped using the same old images that you spammed for years but you are still doing the same shit just with new images and new robotic phrases, the fact you are using the 4chanx mdr hash randomizer on all your posts now so people can't as easily track you through the archive is just the smoking gun proof.

I've recommended plenty of 9060 XT 16GB and 9070/XTs during the past five months or so.
This is (me), I give level-headed advice. I was right about RDNA4 and also right about the early adopter BIOS issues with new Ryzen CPUs.
Just because I tolerate reasonably priced Intel CPUs with no risk of degradation or a $250 MSRP B580 with 12GB VRAM, doesn't make me a brand warring retard like (you).

The B580 wouldn't be an easy recommendation if AMD or NVIDIA cared enough to provide at least 10GB of VRAM for the $300 9060 XT or 5060.

9800X3D is high end. ITX isn't just short on PCIe. If you use a lot of peripherals, the shitty chipset will bottleneck them and cause malfunctions. That aside, SFF case thermals are very bad. Because there's barely room for fans and every component radiates directly into each other, they can all easily reach 90C under load, which will wear out their lifespan. Severe cases may throttle performance. I'm guessing that CPU/GPU combo won't reach that point if you assemble it right, but it's something to beware.
