So uhhh. Any anon got an experience with ant farms? Never looked into it, but I stumbled over this and it seems fun as fuck. Is this any good? I'd want to keep domestic species, something like black garden ants and just kind of watch them do their thing occasionally.
>>106136259ants are faggots

everything in my cart went up by 50% over the weekend
>>106136279I like watching them do their thing even without being able to look into the hive, I'd imagine it gets a lot more entertaining once you can look into it.

@106136551 i have a 4 miles per dollar credit card which negates the 2% fx mark up and my credit card charges a 3.75% fx fee plus a 1% visa fx fee if i pay in foreign currencies
>>106136565bruh just get some card with no fx fee like revolut
@106136592 i get 4 miles per dollar if i pay in local currency which is worth more than the 0.2% spread paying in usd that revolut gives

>>106135927>>106137154ok now i am scared because I thought I found great work around by ordering 1 item per order and maximising coins usage
>5 bucks per fig1 in cart it gets - $4
2 in cart its 6 bucks because somehow it doesnt use coins on each order
so i will just order each fig separately they will pack them in center together right?
i found a ton of 0.1c items like this too
>>106136259you need to supply them with food and this thing called substrate which helps them build. the educational ones for kids are like a gel which comes in funky colors like blue, green or red but that stuff will kill your ants. clay/sand is tried and proven.
>>106136565there should be cards with free currency conversion in your country. there's also wise/revolut, i think these are free if you're under a monthly spend
@106137453 it doesnt matter when I get 4 miles per dollar which is equivalent to 4.8% cashback and paying aliexpress the 2% fx markup in local currency or i can pay in usd and pay 0.2% revolut rates but 4.8%-2% is more than 0.2%
>>106137302Coins didn't work at all in cart until recently.
Unsure if the cart lessens the coin discount with more items or only uses the full discount from one, but factoring in choice shipping and coupons you can have situations where one choice item might be $7 with coins, but adding a second might be $5 total.

>the educational ones for kids are like aThose suck ass I heard and will eventually start to get moldy and kill your colony. Issue with clay/sand is that you see less, but pure acrylic probably makes moisture control harder and might freak the ants out as they do kind of need some dark.

USD is the global reserve currency and a majority of international transactions are conducted in USD
So AliExpress doesn't need to do currency conversions transacting in USD
If you transact in your local non-USD currency, they charge the exchange fee (plus tip) to the customer.
On the accounting side, they'll convert USD to CNY but this is never seen by the customer.

>>106136259>>106139443Fellow ant enjoyer here, I take care of two harvester ant colonies at my local libraries. One library upgraded their ant enclosure about 8 months ago to pic related. Biggest problem is that the outworld isnt glued, it's just sloted together and held there with rubber bands. Looks like the one you're looking at has the same problem. If you do end up buying that one, I would highly recommend gluing the outworld together before you have a big problem later down the line. I would also question how hard it will be to heat that setup if your ants need heat.
>>106140675Probably something like https://m.banggood.com/Eachine-EX5-5G-WIFI-1KM-FPV-GPS-With-4K-HD-Camera-Servo-Gimbal-30mins-Flight-Time-229g-Foldable-RC-Drone-Quadcopter-RTF-p-1710160.html

>>106140683>Fellow ant enjoyer hereBased
>Biggest problem is that the outworld isnt glued, it's just sloted together and held there with rubber bands. Looks like the one you're looking at has the same problem.Actually it doesn't, or kind of doesn't. The parts are screwed together with screws, with two exceptions, the backside of the "outside arena" and the lid. I don't think it matters for the lid, but I will give the backside a test and if it can come apart I'm gluing it. The way it's slotted makes it look like it might be fine, but I'm planning on keeping them indoors and don't want an ant colony in my room ideally.
https://youtu.be/Qt2AiBzvOvU?si=SPWM3VV0Qm9scy-i
is the video that comes with the purchase, glorious 360p, but it shows the various parts. Honestly looks impressive in terms of value - and I have a 3D printer so I can reprint the 3d printed parts if I need to.
>I would also question how hard it will be to heat that setup if your ants need heat.Good reminder, but I got a super standard Lasius niger queen, just the normal stuff that lives here anyways, so chances are no external heating needed. I might get into cooler ants later, but I wanted to get my feet wet for now. I also own a heatpad for my plant seedlings, so I can put that under the arena if needed, that should penetrate some thin acrylic.
Do you keep your colony covered? That's the most critical part I think since it's all acrylic, so I'm considering if I want to 3D print a shrowd for the hive, or put it in a cupboard or put some cloth over or something to give them darkness when I'm not actively observing.
anyone know a decent WiFi dongle?
>>106140832https://github.com/morrownr/USB-WiFi/
can someone recommend aliexpress wireless earbuds that have a relatively small charging case? i have good headphones, im just looking for something small and cheap to throw on my pockets
>>106140927I mean I have those 2$ ones from the bundles and their case is tiny, barely more than the buds themselves. But they are also dogshit, so I'd say get something proper instead.
I'd say scroll through https://www.scarbir.com/ and look at a case that you think would fit your needs. Remember that it's less about size and more about the actual comfort, a longer, thinner case might be more convenient to carry than a very round or oval but overall smaller case.
Do I order 150 bucks worth of gamepads and IEMs that I mostly likely use about a dozen times and put in the drawer, or do I not do that? That's a question I have no answer to yet.
>>106141121obviously no, what the fuck?
for iems EDC pro is already endgame. you don't need anything more.
gamepads are probably gamesir.
>>106141121>use about a dozen times and put in the drawerIf they're not going to get much use,
and take up storage space/mental space,
then you're walking the path of the horder.
Give it a few years and you'll know you bought that one thing a while ago, don't know where you put it.
And at that point, what's the point in having spent money on it?

I'm 99% certain both Senjougahara's and Miku's are legit.
I got Asuka first, she's a fake but a really good one, the hair is the only thing that gives it away, she also came loose in a bag, only wrapped in bubblewrap, one of her zippers was broken but I just glued it in place.
Miku's came in her original box but it was flimsy as hell, the box was destroyed when I got it but the plastic blister kept her safe.
Senjougahara's came inside a styrofoam box and her actual box was intact.
Think I paid ~20$ or less for each one.

i got the base model no attachments
+ it's lightweight
+ usb-c charging
+ the head comes right off so you can wash it under running water
+ close shave for now but this is because i'm already clean shaven and this thing is new
+ it's very quiet
- it uses only one spinning rotor for the blades. my old enchen uses 3 and you can sort of feel the cutting in action as you shave compared to this
- so from above, feels weak so if you're some dude from some ex-soviet bloc country this might not be for you
- it's too lightweight for its size. it feels cheap and hollow and won't survive a drop
- it's $16.50USD (whoa really?) i only got this cheap because i had cashback going but they're fucking dreaming if i'm paying full price for this
- can't seem to find any replacement blades

this is my old enchen blackstone (ex-subsidiary of xiaomi) which i've used for around 7 years. i just saw it for around $4.31usd in the bundles section a few days ago. uses 3 rotors instead of the one and i would recommend it. would've bought it again if i knew how average this new one was but i guess it's always nice to try new things if someone else fronts the money for you

Poco F7 or F7 Pro?
Seems like F7 is supposed to be the more "futureproof" option because SD8sG4 could become the superior SoC once it has fleshed out drivers
But some people suggest against counting on that because there are older models that still didn't get proper drivers, and F7 will not suddenly get any kind of priority for that
Which is making me go back to considering the F7 Pro for an already properly established and supported SoC, though it comes with a smaller screen for cons

QCY MeloBuds Pro arrived. (
>>106130589 )
I bought them because I lost my pixel buds pro (or had them stolen) so those are my point of reference.
Overall I'm thoroughly impressed.
Audio-quality is great. It's close enough to the pixel buds that I can't tell much of a difference, but I'm also not an audiophile and just care if things "sound decent".
Ergonomics are also great. Feel just as safe in my ears and just as nice to wear as the pixel buds.
Pairing and connection seem great as well, will have to stress test a bit more to make sure.
In terms of case, I'd say these are better than the pixel buds. The case is smaller (much nicer to wear in your pants pocket, the pixel buds were always a little too large). The only thing is it's not super obvious which one is left and right when you slide it in, but that may get better with time.
Passthrough and ANC are impressive. I can't do a 1:1 comparison because as I said I lost the pixel buds, but I'd say ANC is ~90% as good as the pixel buds (in my usual environments, no idea for stresstests). Passthrough is also great, though maybe only 70% as good as on the pixel buds, if the audio source is close (stove as you cook) it's fine, if it's further away (a truck at the end of the street) it'll not pick that up.
Honestly, it's hard to believe that I'm comparing a 100-150€ product to a 25€ product, they are pretty even. The pixel buds have a marginal edge in ANC, while the MeloBuds have the edge in portability due to the smaller case. I think how it is to carry each day is more important than marginal ANC gains, so I actually feel like I got somewhat of an upgrade. Highly recommended.
To be fair with the pixel buds pro you get wireless charging too but I used that once for the novelty and then never again, so it's a non-factor for me anyways.
>>106166268Oh forgot to mention:
No idea about latency. I never noticed an issue with the Pixel Buds Pro, I also don't notice an issue with the MeloBuds. I don't game with them though, nor do I really watch videos, I just use them to listen to podcasts and music, so I'm probably the wrong guy to ask.
>>106166268Do they support multiple devices?
