Yes. NTA but I kind of blame the way that integration was taught to me. I would probably "get it" if I tried to study it now but the first time my teacher basically taught it as "yeah it's basically trial and error and there are no hard and fast rules, now here's a bunch of hard and fast rules that we're going to teach you and test you on." I had an easier time with discrete math because I managed to get a B by acing the final even though I was running a C- the rest of the year.

I'm the opposite, I loved Calc 2 and didn't like Discrete. It wasn't super hard or anything, but the problems weren't as enjoyable to work on and doing proofs is gay.

My senior year's gonna start in less than 1 month. Been trying my luck at fall co-ops and that sort of thing, but keep getting filtered out by most companies.

Even ones I apply less than an hour of the posting. Even local ones that hire a lot of grads from my school. Even government organizations looking for some chud to help them out with xyz data management thingie. Even after using AI to help specially tailor literally every single version of my resume I send out within reasonable bounds.

Since I've actually started getting interview invitations junior year but far too late, I actually seriously contemplated delaying graduation. But my sustained high rejection rate these days is putting these methods into serious jeopardy.

I just wish someone could've nepoed me into something these past summers. Was actually talking to this white freshman last spring (now a rising sophomore) who snagged some cybersecurity internship this summer despite knowing jack shit about it, which his mom got him.

I dont know how westoids live such polarizing lives. Each time i look into the comments of youtube videos or discord forums, everyone keeps saying they have an office job that literally gives them zero work to do. They only have to work like 2-4 hours max and they have to fill their time fucking around like learning Japanese or something. Then they get home at 5 PM sharp, go to the gym or hangout or gaming, then do it all again tomorrow.

Incredibly quiet fellow all throughout; he'd write his answers in pseudocode first, filling up pages, proceed next, and all his verbalized explanations were incomprehensible. I suspect autism. When asked to 'simplify' further, he would hand me and my colleague ( Vanessa ) the pseudocode filled pages and say - 'that's explanation enough.'
Well, after discussion with Vanessa, we decided not to hire him. Sure, he answered every question perfectly ( about 15 HLCQ ), and sure, the pseudocode was great too, but Vanessa didn't like he wasn't communicating nice, how blunt he was.

I worked for a USA company for literally 300k USD/year remote. Of course I wouldn't get a SEA wagie job. If I went local I'd only go top tier like working for Grab/Agoda, but even those don't compete with USA.

Honestly any experience is good though, not just internship. See if you can work as a teaching / lab assistant. Most internship in indogland requires full commitment (i.e. you have to be in office and can't attend classes).

Look really deep in what you want to be good at. If you like business aspect more in tech then get SAP / ERP training. Be good at leetcode as well but honestly you can use chatgpt for that.

exactly. I worked nocturnally and slept morning until afternoon to do this. I was "based out of" Seattle on paper and knew several other guys doing this. Get a job on the west coast and then move to Asia to work at night. They never checked my logins or they simply never cared. I didn't hide it at all from a technical standpoint.

Thanks for the indonesia recommendation list. I knew of yogyakarta, but never heard of Surakarta. I'm here in bali visiting family who came to briefly visit asia. Before this, i had only ever been to Bandung, within ID. I liked how many basketball courts Bandung had.

I'm worth 1.5M and rising @ age 32, but I started my career at 60k/year -> 90k/yr -> 130k/yr -> 165k/yr before getting the 250-300k one for the past three years. My main tip is leetcode hard into the best company you possibly can. Sit unemployed to train longer if you have the priviledge to. Avoiding leetcode just to end up in a worse company with easy interview gets you the results you would expect: worse career progression, worse pay, dumber colleagues, worse codebase. LEETCODE IS THE BEST ROI aside from hitting the jackpot on building your own successful software.

Lots of good engineers make 200-300k remote after a decade btw. they at least did until the past couple years and many still continue to do so. I also attended a top university fwiw. not top for eng, but top overall.
