Is the company doomed to fail and go the way of Compaq and Gateway? What are they doing wrong?

the whole concept is retarded. you don't need to update your laptop every year, and by the time it really needs an upgrade, changing a few components is not going to fix it. also nobody wants to pay premium price for a laptop that looks like this.

Laptops are disposable trash, you buy the cheapest thing that serves your needs.
Linux ricers and shitposters will be fine with the cheapest celeron chromebooks + coreboot.
Students also receive the cheapest shittiest celeron chromebooks to use chatgpt.
Enterprise and office users don't worry about price, upgradeability, or literally anything else, their acquisitions dept is wined and dined by dell, HP or lenovo.
Where does that leave framework?
Their customers are high powered nerds who want to tinker with their shit and are the most price sensitive audience to pander too, did they really think a $1000 laptop would go over well?
That's new thinkpad and macbook money.

They provide for a niche market, nowhere near the scale of Compaq or Gateway. They'll be fine.

I don't know why anyone would buy one of these when they cost as much as they do. Its cheaper to just buy any mainstream brand gaymer laptop and update every 2 or 3 years then to buy a jeetwork and "upgrade" it

The laptops aren't for poorfags like yourself, they're for actual enthusiasts.
It's the most popular Linux laptop.

Bad screen. That's literally it. If you can't offer me at least a 1920x1080 144hz laptop screen with 115% SRGB and 100%+ P3 I might as well not even touch your laptop. It's already garbage.

They went with retarded 2k panels with garbage picture quality I think they have like ~89% SRGB, absolute garbage for $1500+

The framework 12 is some shitter plastic garbage which I considered buying as a travel laptop, until I found out the screen was a garbage 60% SRGB shitter washed out IPS.

Why do laptop companies fail to understand the screen is the absolute most important part of the device along with the keyboard.

Good screen good keyboard or otherwise you are fucked as a laptop maker. I will not buy your product. That's why I dont have a laptop I just use my fairphone for emails and other shit.

Also to add the framework 12 is over $1000 with all the addons. Framework 13 is a garbage screen as well, over $1800 LMAO.

What a scam. I won't be giving them a single cent and I usually like products that are repairable. That's why I bought a fairphone 6 for $500 because I like the company and the hardware.

Framework is a fucking scam.

Their most interesting product is probably the upcoming Desktop, and ironically it's the least modular/upgradeable/repairable thing they've made (has soldered RAM).

Their Framework 16s are still stuck on Zen 4's and they only offer it in AMD.

Their only REDEEMable value is selling batteries as spare parts permanently instead of the lifecycle of a business laptop.
Other than that, buying trash laptop every 3 years or so is still cheaper.

The batteries aren't even removable. You have to open the entire laptop just to change them.

I like the idea behind it but the economics just donโ€™t work out, Iโ€™m not spending macbook pro price on something so inferior

Why the fuck would I trust a jeet ran company after watching them shit the bed in multiple cases.
I will not buy anything ran by a jeet at the very top. I'm not racist but I have worked with these people for years.
