I can't imagine a better form factor than what Fxtec and Astro Slide have to offer. I'm posting this on my 4-year-old Fxtec Pro1, so that's partially why. My phone has had problems and is slowly deteriorating towards having more problems, but I wouldn't even consider a keyboardless phone as an alternative.

So far, the best contender seems to be Minimal phone. It sort of deliberately has a poor form factor for some apps, so I guess it's okay if there are problems. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That is just the result of generic android UI/UX having been developed for regular all-screen candybar smartphones and not blackberry type of devices, requiring serious adaptation. Android will have to adapt to a dynamic UI anyway, not particularly because of these kind of phones but more because foldables. these devices will also benefit from that. People are weaning off the bigger-screen-is-better like >>106149392. The next 5 years of android will be interesting with companies trying to set themselves apart from all the other companies putting out bold designs with smaller design, or blackberry type of devices.

I held on to my Blackberry for exactly this reason. Even past EOL for Blackberry service, I was near wifi enough that I could just use that if I wanted. But eventually web standards change, and without anything on Blackberry getting updates you eventually get hit with the "this webpage/app/service isn't compatible with your browser/device" and after a while you just have to give up on the dream of keeping your blackberry going. I think I was able to squeak out this way until about 2014 when I was finally couldn't literally do anything with it anymore.

I like my slim, it's good for streaming to the TVs in my van because it's the same aspect ratio as the lcds, but man I really hate the home button because I type fast enough that even setting it to require a double press means that I will accidentally take myself to the home screen while typing and because I can't disable the Google app thing that opens it when you type literally any letter while on the home screen, all too often I'll be in the middle of typing something and suddenly I'm looking at the Google app search bar.

I had a Blackberry priv for a while, it worked great when it was new and it's still my all-time favorite phone because you get the full size screen of any other smartphone but you also get a keyboard when you need it, and the sliding mechanism never failed me.
Sadly, they must all have defective batteries or something, because as they age they get into this weird state where they run terribly and they get extremely hot even when you're not doing much of anything, and I mean hot, hot enough to deform and crack the plastic case I put mine in.
And nowadays it's too old to be compatible with much of anything, I managed to briefly use it for about a week while waiting for a new battery for my Titan Slim and it was a huge pain.
Really sucks, because a modern BlackBerry priv would be fantastic and I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Well, so long as it's less than like, $400. I'm not made of money.
