just make smartphones require being 16 or 18 or older to purchase so that parents are responsible for upbringing
why is this even a problem

or do they not actually care about the kids and they just want to exploit them through even more targeted advertisements

I'm not going to read this article because there's literally zero reason for the blurring and pixelating of the image that they used. There's no purpose that it serves and it metaphorizes zero aspects of the issue. It's like if there were going to be an article about the price of eggs going up and somebody used a CRT filter on an image of an egg to make it look like a retro TV. I don't trust information from people who blindly do absolutely unrelated nonsense.

Every phone network I've used in the UK blocks adult material by DEFAULT, I imagine they do in most countries. You need to do an unlock with a credit card usually.

no? maybe I've just been on particularly harsh networks and smaller ones are a lot more lenient but every one I've used in the past few years blocked it without a CC verification.

This is the western social credit score being implemented, the first step is to force people to use their real identity online

They will say it's 'only for adult sites to protect children', but then it will be broadened to all the internet.

You will do absolutely nothing and no magic revolution will start. You will then cry about how bad things become because you decided being lazy and useless was better than doing something to stop it.

I wonder if a lot of websites will immigrate to Tor and such darkweb networks. It obviously depends on how many visitors they will lose because of these stupid laws and how many visitors they would lose moving to the darkweb, and I have no idea. It also depends on if a lot of websites do it all at once, for that would make a lot more people less hesitant to start to use Tor. Making money there may be harder too for these websites, I don't know.

Would 4chan move to Tor? I would not mind having to use Tor to access 4chan, it would be exactly the same, just a bit slower, but what about most users?

I wonder if a lot of websites will just disappear. I especially think about these funny cartoon-porn websites. I enjoy these, it's funny and harmless. However, for their users are not addicted to them like real porn, they may just stop visiting instead of entering their identity. I'd prefer these websites to move to Tor instead of disappearing.

I think the police can identify one targeted darkweb user for serious criminal activities, but would they identify hundreds of thousands of users for just criticizing the leaders on imageboards and watching non-illegal porn? This seems not criminal enough to me but I don't know.

I think we'll witness the birth of bunch of services to bypass/fake verification process.
Do you remember VPN? It was not meant to circumvent censorship at first, it was to create virtual secure networks, mostly used by corporations, and look where we are now.

If you need an app for a service don't use that service. Very simple. I use none.

I didn't mean allowing Tor users, I meant becoming an onion in order to avoid having to check the identity of the visitors. I guess if a website is now required to have all its visitors reveal their identity to prove that they are adults, Tor users won't be able to access it anyway unless they reveal their identity too which would be nonsensical, so it will be either A: clearnet and identity check, or B: Tor.
A detail that comes to my mind is that these nasty laws are probably supposed to apply to onions too. Of course in reality no onion will ever comply with this law, and the crime is not serious enough to justify targeting the admin to identify him. However the identity of the admin of a website that moved from the clearnet to the darknet will be known. I wonder if that admin would get in trouble, for not checking the identity of the visitors of his onion...

this is at most 10 years away in the developed world. the thin gruel of 4chan 'anonymity' won't protect you. AI can reliably link posting styles to non-anonymous text. deleting content wont save you it's all archived. they're all going to know you said nigger on the internet.

Also something to do with the sentiment of zoomers against a certain country.

this only works if windows need to be updated and since 2019 i have no updated my windows 10. Microsoft themselves have worked hard on making it redundant to update windows and only needing to run a script to block updates. As for phones- old phones with unlockable bootloaders, custom roms and rooted OS, have no problems.phones too have stagnated so much a 2021 model like the Poco X3 pro is enough forever
