2015 - 2022 was the golden period. Some fags just got a bunch of cloud certs on top of their degree and were making 100-150k+ to replicate what on prem systems did but on the cloud. Even back then the cloud was often far easier to use since you needed much less code and manual configuration.

>In 2024 Latin America emerged as a new hub producing software engineers competing for remote roles in the USA and Europe.
>Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia lead the pack in producing senior engineers for the market. While Mexico and Brazil alone produce 600,000 SWEs every year.
>This was welcomed in tech, as in all US industries, as 2024 saw a 156% increase in demand from USA companies seeking LATAM professionals, who offer cost-effective solutions to hiring needs, on the same or similar time zones to the USA.

The end result is you end up with a bunch of jeets that were unscrupulous enough to cheat during the interview.
A simple fizzbuzz on a white board is literally all you need. If you want to know my thought process it shouldn't matter if I write actual code or not. We all know we're just gonna use auto complete and an AI assistant anyway.

Whew. I was worried at first, but having two (remote) jobs actually isn't so hard. The only thing that occasionally comes up is a meeting conflict with my daily standup at my first job, in which case I just tell them I'm "running late" or "will miss standup today, here's my status" and nobody bats an eye.

This is a relatively easy way to break into the mid $200ks. Helps if your first job is already cemented pretty well and you've automated yourself out of most tasks and stuff

They're all middle aged millennial manchildren consoomers who talk 24/7 about nintendo or middle aged Xers with brown wives and mutt children.
The only other guy in my age range is a sperg too.
Fuck this shit man, I spend 40 hours per week with these people, couldn't they be normal?
Literally the most normal people are the Senior Directors in their late 40s/50s and then there's some awkwardness since we're in completely different phases of our lives.

FYI at that bank I had to deal with a squad of Ukranian cheerleaders who would literally watch Ukranian gore vids at their work stations. Despite all their tough talk on how they would want to go to the war themselves, they worked at a bank that sucked dick at enforcing sanctions since their data analytics wasn't in place at all for their compliance. Why? Because it didn't make the bank money. The only money they sanctioned effectively was from some random Ivans who typically had amounts under the 1k euro on ING accounts. A lot of problems occured with double citizenships or people who have registered as Russian but aren't anymore.

Weird people, weird place.

>unless intelligence is something that originates from a non-physical process (i.e. a soul).
You just missed a lot of steps in the process and went straight to soul.

1. Intelligence is based on emotion. On feeling. There is no way to achieve intelligence without it. Think about it. What does a word mean? All words in the dictionary are defined through other words. It's an endless circle of words. But how do we know what they mean? Cause we feel it. When I say "I'm going to buy an ice-cream at the store". I know what going means because I have went places in the past. I know what an ice-cream is because I have tasted it. I know what future tense means because I have experienced the past and the future. AI does not have these things, so it cannot "think". It just blurts out words without grasping their meaning.

2. Intelligence and emotion are based on purpose. Everything I do in my life is for a reason. I post here because I am bored. I eat food because I am hungry. I go to work because I want money to survive. AI does not have a purpose. It's purpose is just what others tell him. Therefore it can never think. Intelligence at the end of the day is the ability to achieve one's goals, and AI has no goals.

3. Souls are on top of all that, but you don't need souls to refute AI. At least not yet.

Buying shit for status is a meme. You work hard to get money to buy things you like, invest in your future and most importantly invest in your kids like most rich people do. Even poor fags that make $200k usd and higher invest most of their money in there kids education instead of retirement since it makes such a difference outcome wise.

Yes that would be true AGI.

The most difficult part would be true self preservation. Humans spend a shit ton of resources on its immune system and maintaining itself to survive. The sexual drive comes from a survival need, if no replication occurs the species dies off. A machine would need to be able to replicate itself and successfully keep itself alive in the real world. It would need a mechanism to create copies of itself and interact within the real world to exert influence on it.

If it can do all of that without any human interference or help then it would be true AGI.

lol you are actually retarded. If it's so obvious then you should have realised that is impossible to send terrabytes of data per second over kilometers through plastic. Yeah sure dumbass and sony never got hacked in its life. You can more securely transfer data within a network if you own the servers outright. With cloud you would have to go out of your way to get an SLA that includes dedicated circuits on servers dedicated only for your service. Then what happens when you end the contract and they move service again? Alot of shit like this is just wish washy magic. If you are even more secure you would have R&D on one separate network entirely and only outbound traffic is through dedicated lines to each location. Completely separate computers too. You are simply thinking of small company problems.

Another point for the morning was that I started fairly early, so I didn't have to bother with other people. My coworkers wouldn't start their day until like an hour/90 minutes after I did and it'd be like 05:30 in my manager's timezone when I started my day.

So I just whipped up the AIs and I got one fresh baked without writing a single line of code.
Took about as long as it would take for me to do it myself considering that I have 0 GUI/GTK experience.

The problem is, vibecoding is extremely unpleasant. It's that same feeling when you have to look at the code somebody else wrote. It's just a horrible feeling when the AI fails and you have to take over.

it's not a hiring manager kinda deal it would be me solo being the support and admin for it (while I stay in Aus) as it grows in the states, so maybe 10 hours a week of effort I'd need to get paid for
Based off that 100k I'll double the hourly and get 100/h
I'll research a bit more but this is basically a consulting engagement where I'm recommending an ERP to a group, and they're likely to have it implemented but the group won't hire someone full time to manage it so I'll be managing the config and support of it and getting hit with taxes in two countries
Ideally it turns into more USA income and I can get back there and use the koala accent to my advantage

No known bugs, feature complete
Devs are happy, business is happy
We are ahead of schedule
But today, I hastily proposed an incorrect solution in the project chat without fully thinking it through and to my manager that means everything

My manager tells me today verbatim "I would like to say something good about you, but I'm struggling to find anything positive"

is this a manipulative move to get you to insult them so they can fire you with cause? that is such a performative statement to say about anyone. you can find good things to say about anyone, even hitler. okay scratch that, you can say a lot of great things about hitler but it was just an example.

sounds like a good deal anon especially if they lack internal knowledge. come in as Chad w/ a cool accent, don't document anything, fix/implement whatever they ask for (within reason), then renegotiate in like a year. teams in the US have had budget contractions so getting 32-40hr billable hours would be tough for this FY, but it can definitely be done in the long term (I've seen long-term consultant admins used as knowledge fill at big corpo when they were really supposed to be temp).

Im realizing a big part of the problem with modern careers is that top leadership is just not good at their jobs anymore.
They were always greedy and selfish and apathetic towards their workers, but they were still mostly good at their jobs of being leaders of companies.
But that isnt really true anymore.
Its one thing to make evil decisions that hurt lots of people, but even worse making evil decisions that hurt lots of people and also make the company worse off in every way

I think you can blame at least 3 factors:
1. overhiring during and after the pandemic, which means companies not only hired any retard "technician" they could hire, but also shitty managers, C-levels and so on
2. big tech and their bullshit AI fad that they use as a convenient scapegoat to fire the ones hired during the pandemic, and
3. Musk who made treating workers like shit and blaming them for everything, including their failures of management and even HIS failures, trendy again
I guess 3 is a special case of 2. also, you could add jeets overtaking big tech to this list.

Spend 2-3 years gaining experience by doing every single thing you can. Update your resume, get A+, Net+, Sec+ then get CCNA. Move to a specialized role in the various fields that are out their and you are golden. You can expect to 3x your current pay in 2-5 years time if you take on alot of the bullshit projects. Also fuck around with linux, homelabs, server side stuff, and programming when you can so it can be added to the resume.

I think you're stupid and baiting or an Indian trying to justify your choice of jeets on 4chan.

??? how the fuck are they supposed to use production software on a server if they don't know shit about servers? You seriously think they are punching on the keyboard all day to recompile already purpose built software? Sure they need to know code but they aren't making from scratch.

zoomer who has only worked remote, for the past 4 years.

Work is going hybrid with mandatory 1-2 days in office depending on your team.

Whats a good headphone for in office use, the few times I've gone to the office in the past 4 years. I've just used my airpod pro 2 for teams call/music, but am looking to get a new set. Sound on the app2's are fine, not too sure about the mic.

Looking at the xm6, or airpod pro max, any other recs?

Any tips? I'm the pillar of a mid level workstation team.

Why the fuck didn't you list all this that you listed in your post to your manager? Next time come prepared, with a notebook and all your arguments listed and screenshots of every time the other side fucked up just in case if they delete or edit their old comments.

lol, we no longer have enough office space for every one to rto 5 days a week, even though they built a new hq a few years ago.

we have cubes at least, so not as bad as open office. But they are only fully enclosed on 3 sides. (vs the 3.5 you also see)

>bitched at for being "unapproachable" for wearing headphones while working.

Culture issue.desu. everyone wears headphones at my workplace and I don't see that changing. 1/3 of the corp was in office 1-2 days a week out of choice anyways. (lot of boomers who like going to office, and other who come in for food, or gym)
