today i had another bleu cheese burger at the Microsoft cafeteria and it was pretty good!
I ate it so fast!
Also my business unit got re-orged today and all of the teams got new names lol
So are the h1b indians going back or not?
Will the jobs go with them?
I just want to get into FAANG. 2021 retards had it so goddamn easy
>>106169917no. line flattened slightly so we're gonna import more
>>106169658>fmlNo, thats her debt, not yours. Dont be a cuck and pay her debt. In fact, she's going to resent you even if you dont. Break up with her, it's over. Trust me she's going to make your life a living hell now. She's literally a liability.
>>1061699172015 - 2022 was the golden period. Some fags just got a bunch of cloud certs on top of their degree and were making 100-150k+ to replicate what on prem systems did but on the cloud. Even back then the cloud was often far easier to use since you needed much less code and manual configuration.
>>106169917>The collective employee base of the FAAMNG group- Meta, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Netflix, and Google- grew by 16 per cent in India over the past 12 months, adding more than 28,000 net new jobs, according to staffing firm Xpheno, cited by Economic Times.
>>106170437And how many of those jobs were for software engineers, in the USA, for American citizens
>>106170437>adding more than 28,000 net new jobsthats not even very many
>>106169917nah it was still really stupid and basically the same 15 people getting all the high paying jobs while all the grunt work and maintenance was outsourced to india
only difference was instead of "ai will make it" it was "blockchain will fix it"

>>106169917>In 2024 Latin America emerged as a new hub producing software engineers competing for remote roles in the USA and Europe.>Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia lead the pack in producing senior engineers for the market. While Mexico and Brazil alone produce 600,000 SWEs every year.>This was welcomed in tech, as in all US industries, as 2024 saw a 156% increase in demand from USA companies seeking LATAM professionals, who offer cost-effective solutions to hiring needs, on the same or similar time zones to the USA.
>>106170437there's no way indians gives you a productivity boost to keep hiring them. It has to either be inside corruption or tax write offs. You dont need indians to keep google and such afloat, so it feels like a waste of money.
>>106169833what's the new name
>>106170515thankfully, all this is doing is proving that you cant use low grade workers as replacements in software development. it requires mental facilities that the third world does not have

>>106172150ok. i'll ask AI to do the deep work for me.
I've been online for 1.5 hours and I haven't done a single fucking thing yet
I should have taken a sick day or something
>>106174753every country right now needs that
I hate working in data centers

Welp. Fuck this I'm out. I've got 3 interviews lined up. 2 at Big well known companies and a third at a small startup. I feel like I want to escape huge corporate bullshit and go back to cozy startup life.
>>106169833The first of many. All of them more pointless than the last.
>>106176300>startup>cozylast time i worked for a startup it meant long hours and shit pay
For anyone interviewing right now - what is it like with AI? Are they still doing Leetcode style interviews or has it shifted to something else?
everyone get their bonus from openai?
>>106176335the default assumption is that everybody cheats
so it's back to onsite interviews with whiteboards
>>106176332The company I'm at currently works us like a startup on Enterprise level problems. Working with my experience on startup level problems means a 30 hour work week.
>>106176352Everybody is cheating because Leetcode interviews are fucking dumb.
>>106176352I don't know why they insist on asking these dumb fuck leetcode questions that have nothing to do with the actual job.
The end result is you end up with a bunch of jeets that were unscrupulous enough to cheat during the interview.
A simple fizzbuzz on a white board is literally all you need. If you want to know my thought process it shouldn't matter if I write actual code or not. We all know we're just gonna use auto complete and an AI assistant anyway.
>linkedin dead silent for 6 months
>get 5 messages from different recruiters in one morning
why does this happen?
my boss doesn't even read well. he gets the emails from clients and responds to whatever shit sticks to his mind instead of the actual content of the email.
this is a young guy who used to be on my team (though we never worked with one each other). the boot licking retard is now managing multiple teams that got merged a couple of months ago, and has taken so many responsibilities that now practically ignores our requests and makes my life more difficult instead of easier.

With how disappoiting GPT5 was, I'd say AGI is off the table again for the next 50 years at least. It was nice to dream while it lasted.
Whew. I was worried at first, but having two (remote) jobs actually isn't so hard. The only thing that occasionally comes up is a meeting conflict with my daily standup at my first job, in which case I just tell them I'm "running late" or "will miss standup today, here's my status" and nobody bats an eye.
This is a relatively easy way to break into the mid $200ks. Helps if your first job is already cemented pretty well and you've automated yourself out of most tasks and stuff
>>106176801Fiscal year ended for a lot of companies and so now they're trying to grow for fy26.
>>106178981Told you. It's an incredible tool but the way you retards define "AGI" means it will never exist in a machine. The only way to construct AGI in a way that will satisfy you is by repeatedly fucking a woman but there's no pytorch layer for that so you probably won't be doing it.
>>106179475My definition of AGI is a computer program that can pretty much do everything a human can do. It will be achieved, eventually, unless intelligence is something that originates from a non-physical process (i.e. a soul).
>>106177327that's pretty good advice; it's the combination of being a coaster and being absent on slack and in meetings that's the killer
>>106179565>My definition of AGI is a computer program that can pretty much do everything a human can do.Lol Qwen can already do that, You don't even need an SOTA model. Have you gone outside and spoke with the average human?

>Hurr it can't query <thing> or use <tool>Yeah you have to give it the tool if you want it to use it.
I've always hated "AGI" and "sentient" etc. Most of you keep saying that because you know asking if it's human is a dumb question so you find other words to use to not sound retarded.
>>106180787No single LLM can use any tool. All they can do is generate words, code or other random bullshit. Name literally one job where an LLM could replace humans
>>106180822>No single LLM can use any tool. All you need to do is supply an API. Most free chat bots have a search tool these days for example.
>All they can do is generate words, code or other random bullshWell that's all it takes.
>Name literally one job where an LLM could replace humansOh look, you did the "Hurr it can't socialize the way I do" thing.
>>106180844>still can't name a jobKek, as expected.
>just give it an API through an MCP, broYes congrats, now it can generate random bullshit through an API
>comfy remote job no name company
>125k, work 20-25h each week at most

>expecting ~175k
>have to move
>have to go to office
>probably political shit and backstabbing non stop
>performance reviews every 5min
I will probably accept, am I making a huge mistake? Has anyone been in same situation and regretted it?
>>106180880>>still can't name a jobWhy do you assume intelligence == job? There's always a massive pool of intelligent people who fail to socialize.

I've realized that I despise my coworkers.
They're all middle aged millennial manchildren consoomers who talk 24/7 about nintendo or middle aged Xers with brown wives and mutt children.
The only other guy in my age range is a sperg too.
Fuck this shit man, I spend 40 hours per week with these people, couldn't they be normal?
Literally the most normal people are the Senior Directors in their late 40s/50s and then there's some awkwardness since we're in completely different phases of our lives.
>>106182384Can we trade places? All my coworkers are supreme normalfags who only ever talk about their wives and kids and sportsball.

>>106170518Indians are like cancer cells, once they get inside an organization they start replacing people who do essential functions and redirect their efforts 100% towards bringing in more indians, before long the entire organism has been jeeted from top to bottom and then it collapses from the collective weight of their leeching.

>>106182431I would love to. Nothing I hate more than people in their late 30s who won't shut up about fucking Donkey Kong and LGBTQIAP+ rights
>>106182445A job is where you spend 1/3 of your life. And sadly, how well you are liked has more of an impact on how much money you make than actually being good at your job.
>>106182384> middle aged millennial manchildren consoomersAwful. The 40yo millenials are the worst, they truly are mini boomers.
> then there's some awkwardness since we're in completely different phases of our lives.Should only be awkward if you make it. Some of my friends are 15 years older than me.
>>106182431I've had the worst coworkers when working at a bank. It was all fake social pleasantries. There was a culture of fear and awkwardness. I do not recommend ING bank (to Dutch, Polish or Australian people).
>>106182453It will not collapse as these orgs are semi monopolies with long term on going contracts like IBM or Oracle. Typically they keep a limited amount of very competent developers around and pay them more. But they shouldn't expect any support from the Prajeets they hire lol.
>>106182477There's no way they talk about nintendo slop like donkey kong in their late 30s. It's probably World of Warcraft, magic the gathering or some other millenial games.
>>106182486Iโm saying that our only real commonality is where we work.
Iโm worried about grabbing poon on Saturday nights, theyโre worried about their kids and home renovation.
Close friendships are made on shared life experiences so itโs more of a surface level comradery.
>>106182539>There's no way they talk about nintendo slop like donkey kong in their late 30slol you have no idea
>>106182539nta but "people" like that still buy the latest (overpriced) Switch
>>106182486>>106182431FYI at that bank I had to deal with a squad of Ukranian cheerleaders who would literally watch Ukranian gore vids at their work stations. Despite all their tough talk on how they would want to go to the war themselves, they worked at a bank that sucked dick at enforcing sanctions since their data analytics wasn't in place at all for their compliance. Why? Because it didn't make the bank money. The only money they sanctioned effectively was from some random Ivans who typically had amounts under the 1k euro on ING accounts. A lot of problems occured with double citizenships or people who have registered as Russian but aren't anymore.
Weird people, weird place.
>>106182539Iโm literally talking about my life experiences this week. Theyโre all tendies who wonโt shut the fuck up about Mario Kart and Donkey Kong.
It makes me want to strangle them and tell them that they are single men in their late 30s, they should be getting their lives together, not wasting their time away playing Bing Bing Wahoo
Or at least not telling me about it like I should care.
>>106182602If they really are late 30s then it's about 15 years too late for them to get their lives together. Let them have fun.

>>106182676>career? I will graduate soonlol. what career? almost certain chance you do not get a tech job
>team matching at meta
any tips
>>106179565>unless intelligence is something that originates from a non-physical process (i.e. a soul). You just missed a lot of steps in the process and went straight to soul.
1. Intelligence is based on emotion. On feeling. There is no way to achieve intelligence without it. Think about it. What does a word mean? All words in the dictionary are defined through other words. It's an endless circle of words. But how do we know what they mean? Cause we feel it. When I say "I'm going to buy an ice-cream at the store". I know what going means because I have went places in the past. I know what an ice-cream is because I have tasted it. I know what future tense means because I have experienced the past and the future. AI does not have these things, so it cannot "think". It just blurts out words without grasping their meaning.
2. Intelligence and emotion are based on purpose. Everything I do in my life is for a reason. I post here because I am bored. I eat food because I am hungry. I go to work because I want money to survive. AI does not have a purpose. It's purpose is just what others tell him. Therefore it can never think. Intelligence at the end of the day is the ability to achieve one's goals, and AI has no goals.
3. Souls are on top of all that, but you don't need souls to refute AI. At least not yet.
>>106182899I live in a yuropoor shithole and I haven't seen people from here complain about the tech job market much, so hopefully that is not an issue. My inability to not get on the nerves of at least some people will be, however. I would like to know how much this will affect my career and in what ways if I do hypothetically get a tech job.
>>106182676the best programmer in my office is a certified sperg and a trans woman
arch linux, riced out vim, gamer mechanical keyboard, the works
management loves her because she works weekends like almost always never takes a vacation and just delivers code efficiently
but I've also heard they'd never consider her for management or anything like that, just a highly effective code monkey
>>106182982>All words in the dictionary are defined through other words. It's an endless circle of words. But how do we know what they mean? Cause we feel it. That doesn't explain how you learn and interpret abstract concepts, which little or no connection to reality.
I'm still on the train that when the ai bubble pops, there will be a stock market crash and a recession the likes we've never seen
how much lying can you actually get away with when trying to get hired somewhere?
>>106183352You're correct. All the growth was in AI and nursing homes, basically.

>>106179565Yes that would be true AGI.
The most difficult part would be true self preservation. Humans spend a shit ton of resources on its immune system and maintaining itself to survive. The sexual drive comes from a survival need, if no replication occurs the species dies off. A machine would need to be able to replicate itself and successfully keep itself alive in the real world. It would need a mechanism to create copies of itself and interact within the real world to exert influence on it.
If it can do all of that without any human interference or help then it would be true AGI.
