should i be concerned about pcie lanes? im only using the igpu. ive read it has 20 lanes, 16 for the gpu and 4 for nvme or whatever, as you can see... i have more than one storage, not sure if no gpu is plugged in that those 16 would be distributed to other storage

That's not long enough, you need to test it overnight at the very least to confirm it's stable under sustained maximum heat loads.

But you also need to test the CPU stability under maximum single-threaded workloads. Linpack/IntelBurnTest, OCCT, or Core Cycler offer simple single-threaded tests

on intel tRAS determines tRC
on AMD with EXPO it might or might not determine tRC (it's supposed to, but the motherboard might just set it loose as hell for compatibility)
but tRAS/tRC isn't a timing you bin on hynix, it can go really low regardless of how shit your other primaries are

It's a good card. GN said PowerColor undertuned the Red Devil's stock fan curve, given it was running very quietly.
They've probably done the same for the Hellhound. I think a quieter stock fan curve is better in general.

yesterday it crashed and when booting back up again, displays didn't work but i could remote desktop in. looked at device manager and saw the gpu reporting error 43.
today i tried unplugging my 1080p side monitor and moving the PC to another wall socket. managed to play for 4-5 hours tonight no problem, then it crashed maybe 5 minutes after closing the game, and it's crashed a further three times just trying to make this post
on second thought, it doesn't make sense for it to be power related since it's happening at idle and only started recently. so i think i'm just gonna bite the bullet and order a new gpu and rma this one

tuning different parts of the V/F curve isn't the same concept as tuning for different apps
you SHOULD be using a variable load when undervolting to test different parts of the V/F curve (OCCT can do this for the GPU)
how does it do at 3100 MHz, 3000 MHz, 2900 MHz, etc?

what if a game gets a driver update that improves performance by 10% and now you crash because it's putting a heavier load on the GPU? terrible idea, avoid unless you want to adjust settings every month or every time a new game comes out

Your OC+UV eventually runs into instabilities while stability testing, irrespective of the processor designer.
Whether it's a good idea to allow people to set more aggressive OCs in native rasterized title vs. RT + upscaled game is a matter of preference.
You can keep separate native raster or RT + DLSS OC profiles in Afterburner.

You're essentially telling the processor to request less voltage than its factory-fused V/F table is assigned to (undervolt) or you're setting it to operate at a higher boost clock for each V/F point (OC).
The different acronyms used to describe this doesn't matter.

>Don't know why gpuz is saying x4
It means the GPU is running at Gen 5 x4 lane while in low-power/utilization mode.
Click the question mark next to it and run a short test. The card should be running at Gen 5 x16 mode when it needs to.

I wanted to see what could be done about my old pc and jesus christ my ram is awful while memory is straight up abysmal. this or next year Imma buy a proper one, but in the meantime how much would new RAM and SSDs improve this mess? hell, what bothers me the most is how a new graphics card would eat up ~80% of the total cost for a new pc because I want my next pc to withstand at least 5 years of usage and not become obsolete overnight.

You definitely need to undervolt and adjust your fan curves. Pic related is 1 minute of furmark with the same fan curve but 270 watts vs stock over 300. Temp difference is huge. Yes the score is a decent bit lower but that is just because furmark is all about power. My score in 3dmark steel nomad is actually a few dozen points higher with the undervolt.

Don't just copy my settings though. First see how fast you can run your memory. Start at 2814 mhz (actually 2800 because there is a 14 offset) and go either higher or lower from there depending on if it crashes or not until you find where you are stable. The memory also has error correction so make sure your score isn't dropping vs stock with the memory OC. Do the same with the voltage offset starting at -80. Then test this with different negative power limits until you get temps and performance you like.

You can also run a more aggressive fan curve to get better temps. I have to run a pretty high one combined with the undervolt to get my memory under 90 degrees in games but that is just because my case has very bad airflow.

Finally you start playing actual games and find out how stable it really is and make further adjustments. Adrenalin has per game tuning so you can adjust it to be stable for a specific one causing problems or just disable the undervolt and keep the better fan curve like me if you can't be assed.

Yeah go for it. They're quick, by memory testing standards, and if it crashes you'll know your RAM is way out of whack. Unfortunately there's a lot of issues those Memtest derivatives can't catch so a clear result is no guarantee that your memory isn't the cause. Need to run something harder like TM5 or OCCT afterwards.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fDw9zP
This is my planned build list for now, based on consulting a more knowledgeable friend. For a lot of parts here, when there are alternative options, I'm currently browsing to see whether anything drops in price. So far, I ordered the cpu because it went on a bit of a sale, and the monitors are my current ones.
I picked the case because I want one I can set horizontally due to the way my desk is set up.
Any advice?

Could likely get a single 4TB drive for similar money. Fine to keep them separate if you want to dual boot though.

Way overkill. 750W would do fine. 1kW if you want headroom.
>Case/fans
Spending a fair bit on aesthetics here. Nothing wrong with that ofc but an easy place to cut if you need to make budget.

Rest looks decent. Subject to local pricing, naturally.

Wow you might have a pretty nice bin. Definitely run through the benchmark a couple more times to make sure it doesn't crash, you also can do a free looping benchmark with unigine super position, furmark if you leave it running for a long time is a decent stability test as well. But again the only way you will find out how truly stable it is, is by playing your games.

>Mobo
Mostly gaming and general day-to-day use, but I also sometimes do some programming, and maybe I'll try to play around a bit with AI. My friend recommended a tomahawk, partially based on his own good experience, either 670/670E/870/870E so for now I slot it in the last one since the price difference wasn't big. I'm going to observe the prices for a while tho.
>SSD
A two SSD set-up was suggested by my friend, so I leaned into that. I did try to dual boot in the past with disastrous results, but I don't know if I won't try again in a while. For 4TB, for it to be of similar price it'd have to be either Lexar NM790 4TB or Patriot VP4300 Lite 4TB. Opinions on those?
>PSU
Another friend's initial suggestion included a 1200W, so that anchored a bit in my head, but after that I looked mostly at 1000W, but while browsing with the tierlist in this thread, this one turned out might at a similar price to the 1000W, but the store that had it the cheapest is temporarily closed until 13th, so the deal might not stand, but I thought I'll keep it there to see. Another reason I had a look at 1200W was that I've read somewhere that it's good to be at around 50% of the PSU's limit, and the pc part picker estimated the wattage at 622.
>Case/fans
The space under my desk suffers from really poor ventilation, so I decided to put it on the desktop, but while I've got a lot of space there horizontally, the ceiling is sloped, so I'm a bit limited height wise, and there aren't that many cases like that. Since I'm putting it in a very visible place, I'd prefer it to look good, although I'm not a fan of RGBs. There is a version of this case with some built in fans, and those are with leds and would leave 3 empty fan slots, so getting fans outside of it seems a better option as for the same price I've got a full-setup and with no leds.

That webpage is saying Microsoft's MPO is causing issues, so it's advised to disable that Windows feature through the Windows registry files.
They aren't sharing files to fix NVIDIA's drivers.

The issue is scaling it just doesn't look good. I could use 24" 1080p and 27" 1440p without any scaling and everything was perfect but 32" 4k isn't as simple. Random shit won't look right and everything is too small or too blown out. I'm not sure how this ever became a recommended standard. I literally never even once ran into any issues at all using my 1440p 27" display but run into issues constantly with my 32" 4k.

If you're buying a dual rank memory kit, you might as well get the higher capacity 2x 48 or 64GB config.
24Gbit Hynix M-die DDR5 IC is also easier on the memory controller compared to A-dies, that's why the fastest DDR5 kits usually use M-die memory chips.

I recommend you get 9,53 mm, 3/8 inch, so they go deep enough to grip on the thread! You can easily screw them that deep into the holes of the radiator, they don't touch anything inside. I got myself half an inch, 12.7mm, to install pull fans on top of my rad, of which 4mm go through the fan frame and 8.7mm into the radiator hole.

My 2070 isn't cutting it anymore and there's a local store selling a9070XT Reaper 16GB for a little over $1000 AUD.

I just wanna play 1440p at high fps, but would it be silly to buy right now with what might be on the horizon? I probably won't want to upgrade the rest of the PC around it if it'll function nicely enough. Any advice much appreciated hehe!

Pricing kind of sucks, and the Reaper has one of the thinnest (loudest) coolers.
Not to mention Ethical AMDโ„ข locked the real performance of that card behind a power-limited vBIOS to prevent it from cannibalizing 9070 XT sales.

I need a rec for a new computer used for modelling some underwater reefs for an NGO.
Here are the requirements for the computer: We recommend using a machine with at least 4 CPU cores, 16 GB of RAM, and 1024 CUDA cores. To take advantage of the latest improvements in model generation and texturing, we reccomend a NVIDIA graphics cards with CUDA Compute Capability 6.1 or higher. While a compatible NVIDIA GPU is recommended for optimal performance, the application can still run and perform image registration without oneโ€”however, you won't be able to create models or textures.
I'm out of date since my last build. What CPU, GPU do you think is gonna be the best. It's an NGO, so keeping cost down is a factor. Ak00

yes because cuda
nothing to do with the cpu
cuda 6.1 is like 10 years old at this point
I don't know what kind of performance this thing expects but if its that old it might not be much and you can get away with a cheap gpu
