Yes but less so through google. I personally look at youtube installation videos since a lot of docs are outdated or badly written. Also some too retarded to tell you what their package is called in your repository.

Focusing on productivity results in poor social development.

i would say the stereotypical basement nerd who likes vidya and books and stuff is more well adjusted than the typical dopamine network fried doomscroller ragebait algomedia normie.

>is more well adjusted
For his peers.

If you manage to live in your own bubble for the rest of your life, then yes, you can live your life (constantly consuming dopamine, just like normies, but playing video games/coding/watching anime instead of having sex).

If after 20, 30, 40 years you try to leave your room and go socialize, you will fail miserably. That lost time cannot be recovered, even if you identify what you are missing, you will not be able to absorb it in time. And maybe you'll never be able to identify what you're missing, you'll get into trouble before you're able to understand.

Of course, this is a technical observation of the whole social phenomenon. In practice, what happens is that the number of computer users has simply fallen dramatically, and mobile does not encourage development, only app consumption.

I've noticed this too, and its been a gradually increasing trend since long before any of us were born.
The downfall of radioshack tells you all you need to know about current societal trends.

The world is now too big and lack of agency is normalized. The average person doesn’t know anything about government, starting a business, the values of community, the true benefits of owning over renting, etc. There’s no room for pursuit of knowledge when even that is misleading, as everyone’s told you go to college for that but I’ve met only 2 people over 4 years that potentially actually studied for its own sake or to do something with it, everyone else is just there for a certificate, or to do what’s expected, or to feel smart, or to play the grading game. Even those who are up for it are in a world where most natural revolutionary discoveries have been plotted out. I currently room with a Chinese post-PhD researcher who’s staying in America to work for the local college, he studies how to get AI to better recognize notable objects, landmarks, and terrain from satellite images of Earth. It’s been a year and he’s never had great news on how it’s going, despite him doing nothing but that and Overwatch every single day (we live in the middle of nowhere). Learning things is best relegated to party tricks at this point, it’s not even worth it for artistic expression anymore if you can get your fix from a game, video, or social media.

This is what sucks about knowledge compared to physical things. Imagine if you never had to make a chair because someone else made a chair.

I find myself saying that too more and more nowadays. But again to whom, unambitious and demoralized people?
>>106186712
And here's your example of said people.
