Holy fucking shit, why is has it become so goddamn hard to root and maintain full functionality? No matter how many patches and modules I throw at it its still fucked on my ability to add a debit card for NFC payments. I have it down to just not verifying because of "dangerous props" according to an integrity checker and every fucking project handling this has been dead for 3-4 years. Is the entire scene dead for rooting?

If you were paying attention at all, you'd know that app developers have started to compile their apps to use playstore attestation, so unless the device passes the highest security level AND has a valid keybox, the apps aren't going to run anymore.
Use a real credit card and use the banking website, not their app. Live with what you can get from f-droid, I guess. Or just buy an iPhone alredy, where at least shit works properly.

Most apps work fine once you pass the root check, which usually fails because of the dangerous props. There are very few apps that actually require play integrity or slavery net. So fix the dangerous props issue doing what I told you and see if that fixes it.

I always got that working in the past. Sometimes updates broke shit, the biggest culprit at all was updating when I shouldn't care. I'm currently fully unrooted and use the built in DNS with a re-route to a filter. No ads without a hosts file is nice.
Since I down-levelled my autism life got a lot better.

I don't think you understand what remote attestation is. The private key is burned into the TPM and when you boot with an unlocked bootloader the TPM knows through hardware (no CPU cooperation needed.) Maybe you could defeat this with a bootloader exploit, but again, that's incredibly rare.

Because nowadays various convenience chains make you use their app to get "deals" like buy-one-get-one-free or whatever and you need to scan your rewards card so I may as well unify it all, i REALLY fucking hate having a dozen plastic things on my keychain. I have root because I'm using a non-standard ROM because my phone is too old for the standard one to work with modern apps, but then apps get unhappy that I'm not on a standard ROM. So I need root to deceive apps into working but then it makes half the others break.
It's a stupid catch-22 which pisses me off, when the phone itself is still physically perfectly capable of everything I want.

A million things but for starters there's this thing called a battery and when you use it, it drains. I heavily use my non phone device and I don't want the battery of my phone to be drained all the time.
Secondly, it's a massive fucking security and privacy concern. The internet is a cesspool and I'd like to separate it from my personal info as much as reasonably possible. but the main reason why is still root my phone is because android doesn't let me lower my screen brightness past a certain level and i have to manually write to a sysfs node to make it go lower.
