Hello /g/, I am repairing an old cassette deck, I discovered the 5220 opamp IC (the one that amplifies the head's signals) is dead, I only had a TL082 at hand.
Is the TL082 a suitable replacement or should I try to find a proper 5220?

Will TL082 cure my distrohopping?
I highly doubt you will find someone on here who can help you, this board is for faggots larping as "10x" devs, not for people who know shit about analog electronics. But best of luck to you.

if only. it's mostly a techslop consoomer board.

I'll ask there, thanks brother.

Wow, I just so happened to be comparing the spec sheets for those exact two ICs at this very moment... and no, it won't work.

The 5220 gets to ~.05 V of either rail under +-5 Vsss, the TL082 has almost 2 V gap under +-15 Vss to either rail. Soooo maybe; it depends on input and output and how you condition the signal afterwards; if you don't need R2R you might be able to make it work, otherwise pick an OPA2323 or something else that reaches closer to the supply rails.

It does *appear* to work, but I am not sure if it will work *well*. Guess I'll just find a 5220 to be 100% sure, should be cheap enough.
While I wait I'll calibrate and see if the deck outputs within spec to see what happens.

Well worst case you get fun analogue glitches; nothing wrong with a bit of funny chaotic noise here and there.

sure, why not. go for it.

have you checked every other compent that is inline with its io is fine? have you checked their pinouts?

not how electronics work, retard. people use replacements all the time, especially when components get discontinued (which happens all the time).

You would be much better asking this on an AV repair forum

/g/ doesn't even know the use case of a 5220 opamp IC. Good luck.

As has been pointed out by more than 1 anon - OP really should have stuck to the /sqt/.
I stand by my analogy.

Boost the signal by letting in more electricity.
