As of yesterday turning off watch history doesn't work either. It says it's off but very obviously isn't.
My guess is they changed something that fucked up cookies for ongoing sessions.

YouTube are rolling out UI changes which ruin BlockTube and all other extensions. Soon enough it won't work on Firefox either. I know because it happened to me.

Do not use YouTube in browser. If you do so without using an open source client they are running proprietary JavaScript malware on your computer, spying on you and actively infecting you with aids.
YouTube is fake and gay and has inly ever gotten faker and gayer as it goes along, just download what you want from it and then never use it again.
