Windows on ARM
Is WoA good now?

A lot of software still isn't rewritten for ARM, which makes it kind of useless at the moment.

I bought a $380 WoA laptop but have only used it a little because my mother is a psychopath and tossed her ThinkPad at my dad because she was angry and brok it and ended up needing that machine to get online, and I figured she wouldn't smash "my" laptop (correct). She says it's "much faster than" the i7-10gen/16GB X-series running too many browsers with too many tabs. It seemed fine to me.

When the devices get down to around 400 then i might grab one.

And that will NEVER change, btw. ARMFAGGOTS will never have ANYTHING.

its ok if you use the correct version

WoA is only as good as the software that runs on it.

i doubt it atleast not till box86 runs flawlessly its the reason windows handhelds failed the mainstay of winturds is copy/pasting exe's everyone tried copying paint.exe to their phones and were shocked it wouldnt work

If you just need a casual laptop for web browsing and media it shouldn't be a problem.

>ai slop
>emulating x86
wait for linux to get better drivers for the snapdragon chips

Does massgrave activation work on WoA? For both Windows and Office? Is so I might just get it

All the most common programs are native now. Chrome/Firefox, 7zip, VLC (in beta), Office etc. For a home device it's perfect.

True, but for example, I chose a Macbook over a Snapdragon machine because of the Creative Suite.

It had potential but it's been like 10 years since snapdragon deal for windows on arm and they still didn't deliver anything good.
Extremely unlikely this will change, just bury it.

Fair enough, though most people do not do any creative work. Nvidia and mediatek are also making arm chips, even AMD. And Intel is dying. x86 will only exist for desktops in 5 years

It has extremely good emulation. I'm on a mac and I actually have a W11ARM VM I use for Guild Wars because despite its low system requirements it runs at a crawl when running it through Whisky (it's an x86 exe and it's 32 bit, Apple Silicon has no 32 bit hardware) but in the VM it runs perfectly.

Nice. Have you found any programs that don't work? Or any other downsides in general? And is the battery actually better?

i dont think theres any difference. its just a different architecture for the sake of it

Windows ARM devices sold like hot dogshit and Microsoft gave up on them internally. WoA and Xbox are both dead.
If you know you know

I think it's horseshit you have to add another layer of resource expenditure for compatibility. That's like completely against the whole idea of RISC.

Why is Nvidia making CPUs if it's dead

That's because the 10th gen i7 was only a quad core at most when it came to laptops. Your snapdragon has better clocks and more cores.

so its equivalent to a phone/tablet? for laptop use that's not good to me
