Internet Browsers and Search Engines
Been a while since I posted here. Since Brave browser and all the mainstream internet browsers are essentially spyware, what are some good alternatives in (current year)? Preferably something with extension support and works on both linux and windows, fuck mac. Another thing, are there any decent search engines left? They all seem to suck balls, shove ai down your throat and never seem to actually give me what I'm looking for.

I'm currently using Zen browser with arkenfox config and 4get as my search engine. Works great for me.

I'm using librewolf + my own SearXNG instance. On mobile, I use Ironfox / Iceraven.

Excited to see where Ladybird goes!

Depends if you like metasearch; 4get and SearXNG work great for me. Startpage might also be worth looking into, though I have not used it myself.

Holy based. That's what I started doing recently by switching over to Librewolf after getting tired of Firefox doing all sorts of weird stuff.

Hey I do have a question for you since you also use SearXNG; Mine has a tendency to return .de domains as though I was German. I'm in the US, and I don't have SearXNG going through any sort of VPN that would place it in Germany. Do you have an idea of why it might be returning .de domains?

Installed Librewolf and I really enjoy it already. I wanted a fresh start on my new win 10 install because I was using brave for a good while and was really disappointed in what it turned into. I'll check out the other resources you gave me or other anons drop in sometime later. Thx for not being a gatekeeping reddit troon

desu anon I haven't seen that behavior on my config. im using the docker version with a relatively stock configuration. it could be either your server's locale or your locale within the searxng config or the specific engines you're indexing? But im just throwing stuff at a wall. Whishing you the best of luck anon!

What's going on with brave? I know they've been annoying with their crypto shilling but I wasn't aware of them being spyware. I'm also considering switching to librewolf and am looking for a good reason to.

le shill lion browser did so much shady shit in its early days I just can't trust it now

I agree that they were super shady in the beginning, but they seem to have straightened up in the past 5 years. Besides their shilling, which I have fully disabled, Brave seems to be secure and doesn't have spyware in the source code.

What the fuck is the deal with search engines wanting sign ups? Actual faggot behaviour.
Shit up the screen with a big log in button.
