Driver Support ending for 900-10 series
Anonymous No.106199890 >>106200391
You gotta understand bro, the 1080 Ti was the best card they ever sold you, too generous. The 1070, 1070 Ti, & 1080? It's time to move on bwo, play more demanding games.
Didn't you get the hint when they introduced integer scaling as a Turing exclusive feature despite being possible on pascal? They wanted you to upgrade.
If they could end support for just the 2080 Ti too, they would. They're lucky they sold that hunk of shit to even one person but I assure you Jensen wakes up everyday and spends 38 minutes whining to his therapist about stubborn users who won't upgrade. Why won't they just buy a 5070 he goes on, I even gave that 12GB too, it's an upgrade for them! an upgrade!

You do realize software does not just stop working because the updoots stopped.

this only effects wintoddlers since linux chads have the open source drivers which work great on older nvidia gpus

Do you realize that the rest of the stack will updoot so you either have to be a baby duck playing old games on an outdated system or buy a new card to help out poor old Jenson

the rx 300 is already legacy status too, close to the same age as the 1080

So you're saying the price of a used card is about to drop?

>nvidia should be bad because amd bad
At least the RX 300 has very good linux support. You cannot say the same for Turing & Pascal.

I play 1 game and it depends on the CPU, not the GPU. So I don't really care about this. The only reason I'd ever upgrade from my 1070 is to get AV1 hardware support.

driver/bios updates affect undervolt stability now. old software are worse at undervolt than new.

If you're still around, how would you feel about the concept of a small add in card that acts as an AV1 accelerator either on encode or decode. A small peak power draw of 25-35W but with a staggeringly low power draw. It could have a display adapter, be a small GPU but ultimately it only needs a single PCI-E lane.

Would that convince you to keep your 1070? Or would you consider the power draw of CPU encode/decode (depending on what you have) to be reasonable enough? Does it eventually reach a balancing act, where you'd prefer to have your CPU dedicated to the game instead of encode/decode?

I honestly don't see myself upgrading from my GPU and I'll just wait until it dies or I'm forced to get something newer. Even my CPU is only a AMD 5600. Don't so much need AV1 encoding as decoding. Even shit like jewtube needs to be switched off from using AV1 or videos get choppy with seeking, playback, responsiveness, etc.
