I don't know how many remember this, but a few years ago FitGirl had some online beef with some guy over DDOS or Doxing, I'm not sure (it wasn't the Empress thing) and FitGirl found his email and found out that he was subscribed to gay furry porn or something like that. My question is, was the allegation made up, or can you actually reverse search an email and find accounts it's connected to? There are a couple of websites that claim to do this, but all they actually do is run the email through common search engines, which rarely if ever yeld anything useful.

There are programs/scripts to do that.
They usually use an aggregation of leaks but you can obviously use API calls and other online methods to find out if a particular email was used to register an account.

I see two ways to do that:
-she got access to his mailbox.
-the gay furry porn website data is accessible (data breach, they are selling datas, showing user mails on some pages, the password reset form act differently when the mail does exists in fb etc).
I wrote for some collaborative CYOA erotic website and wrote my email in the mail field obe time. Didn't realize it will be published publicly. Fortunately it was my darksasuke1996 type mail but still.

There is plenty of sites where you can look up an email address in leaked databases. KF and sharty people use those sites all the time.

If you know someone's phone/email, you can literally just open a site/app and try to recover the password. If it says it sent an email/recovery SMS to them, you'll know that someone has an account on that site/app. Like fucking Grindr will tell you if a number exists in their database or not when you try to recover an account, lmao. Not all sites let you know if an account tied to the number/email exists in their database, but a fuckton of them do.

With that sort of mentality you should probably avoid OSINT at all. With all the respect and everything, this field is not for people who can't figure out things on their own. Being inquisitive and able to think outside of the box is an essential skill in this field.

doxxing is possible especially if you have hacker skills.

Yeah, I do remember some websites going "IF your email is tied to a valid account, you should get a recovery email". But, to be fair, direct confirmation can be useful to people who can't remember what email address they used to sign up for something.
