The worst of both worlds. Bad performance compared to a mid range gaming pc and not even portable like a laptop. Worse thermals. Garbage.

If you really need a low power PC undet 30 watts for browsing just get a t440p. just upgrade the thinkpads screen to a 1080p 100% SRGB panel.

>two 4k monitors
Check the specs very carefully to make sure it can drive two 4K displays at once. The iGPU is more than good enough for that but the actual physical ports might not be.
For example the HDMI port on my Dell Optiplex 3000 Micro is limited to 1080p, so if I want a second 4K monitor I have to buy and install an HDMI2 add-on card. If you find that you'll need an addon card then verify that they're actually available before you buy the PC. Some are hard to find.

I use mine as a home theater PC, mostly streaming from websites, VLC, or other streaming services. I can play light duty casual games on it, and stream just about any game from my gaming PC in the other room via Steam.
They're often designed to be mounted to a VESA mount and attached to the back of a computer monitor. You can basically get a computer on a desk in the footprint of the monitor for either small spaces or a minimalist look.

They don't have a ton of horsepower for actual "work" but if you're using it like you'd use a laptop, its the smarter choice for more power per dollar over a laptop. Same hardware, no keyboard, case, battery, screen, audio, etc. They're a bit niche, but they have more power than N100 or most of the tiny blade workstation PCs like this >>106203747

Much more easy.
To make USB-c retard proof is alot harder.
Most laptops take USB-C power from any port, you'd have to do the same so you don't get a bunch of returns from the thing not working because you didn't use the right type C port.

You'd also have to implement some kind of power budgeting depending on what type C supply is active. Even going as far as being able to operate off a 5V only supply if only to show a BIOS screen about insufficient power.
It's a lot more fuss that'll only benefit a small number of people who want a single cable solution.

plus 2x 2.5gbe and minimum three m.2 slots with some fast USB ports where I can add more.
Only real reason I'm still using a desktop is because those rinka dink laptop coolers in mini PCs are annoying as hell, and you can't put enough storage inside them. Would go for mITX if it didn't cost twice as much for half the features.

I don't keep anything important on the tower so I'm free to run pirated gaymes on it and just put it to sleep when not in use so I save power by using the mini as a daily driver.

That's why you only use mini pcs as test beds for programs and files you want to fully check out and make sure have no viruses, and never put any important data or log into any accounts from them. I just use my mini PC to test files I'm not sure about and try programs and mess around with AI. I usually won't use a program on my main until I've tried it on a spare these days.

Access a network attached drive, cloud drive, or just straight up [live] streaming. Turns out you don't need 27 terabytes of unwatched media on the physical machine playing it. The point of using a miniPC is its tiny. Its small, not-ugly, silent, only has 1 power light, you can hide it behind a TV or behind a sound bar. Hell I have mine resting on top of a wireless access point so I have less clutter behind the TV.

I forgot to mention as well, a dock for a 3.5" hard drive is also an option. Don't like that? Get a 2tb microSD card and just transfer media if you simply must have the data locally. I have spare hard drive sand after downsizing my gaming PC and using miniPCs everywhere else, why do I need massive amounts of storage when 3.5" hard disks are so cheap for 2-4 terabytes.
