Except that's exactly what the clickbait headline wants to frame this as. Which is an assumption on your part that the writer is leveraging to make you click by playing into your biases. That's the whole mechanism of clickbait.
Meanwhile if I look up Matt Deike I see a NY Times article with the headline "A.I. Researchers Are Negotiating $250 Million Pay Packages" which doesn't have the same clickbait effect, because offer negotiations are normal part of getting a new job. Instead it's the large number that's more interesting.
