Working in IT was so comfy in the 80s

We can't go back in time and make Germany win WW2.

Go back then. I grew up on old computers, they were buggy and slow as fuck

Because MBA faggots kept cutting away at operating costs to keep investors happy and make line go up so now everyone is brown and works at a giant open air lunch table.

Back then it was all new and exciting. The stuff is a commodity and a solved science by now.

Thats because now "IT" has been bastardized to basically just mean instead of
>person who works ON computers
>person who works WITH customers that USE computers

>Open office
>Barely any space
>No semblance of privacy
The only thing that's enviable there are the colleagues when they're not partying like frat boys

>a new industry appears, investors don't understand it
>suit throw money on teams that show the results and buy them
>after a few years, they understand enough to keep the profits but minimize spending
>the work becomes an underpaid hell where you should fight with thirdies and migrants for your dollar

It wasn’t nice because it was new, literally every white-collar industry was nicer forty years ago. Everything turned to shit, not just IT

You weren't alive during the 80s, and probably not even during the 90s.

Nobody working in IT in the 80's had an office like that, dipshit. Why do you keep pretending they did?

It's a well trodden meme to post something opulent and luxurious from the past and pretend it was the bare minimum. e.g. In the 1950's you could have a 5 bedroom house in the suburbs, a stay at home wife, six kids, a dog and a Cadillac all from working part time at McDonald's.
