I think it will be become widely accepted within 3-6 months that Gemini is better and cheaper than anything OpenAI can produce. If that isn't happening already it will happen when Gemini 3 is released. Once that happens OpenAI will slowly lose market share and this will affect the company's ability to raise money.
Without cash for data center builds/operation/research, they will be forced to make increasingly punitive deals with current stakeholders like Microsoft, or maybe Google ( see previously announced deal between Google and open AI). This continues until Microsoft essentially eats open AI entirely.
This all happens within the next 3 years.
>>106214695 (OP)>>106214696neru's unbelievably hairy pussy...
>>106214980They really need the competition. I don't get the obsession with seeing OpenAI fail. My guess is people need to go back to economics 101.
Also, first mover advantage is important. AI = ChatGPT to most normies. The best product doesn't always win. In fact, it rarely wins...
I've been having a blast with GPT-5. For me, it's noticably way better.
Hallucinations have decreased dramatically. Also to my surprise this thing really is actually pretty opinionated. It's a lot less centrist than it used to be like it will actually have takes on things

so recently i have start a new roleplay with a new chard, isekai shit with some heavy lorebook. And i hit 672 message. A record for me. The problem is the Ai is starting to lose Hit, for now are details like the eyes color of a chara but having a heavy inventory (my chara is preparing for a vampire raid) i can already smell disaster.
anyone have any advice to have a long lasting chat?
>>106215023i try to use a prompt and put the result in a entry of the lorebook, but i don't know if is working, there's a better way to do it?
- as i mention before, i am starting to gathering supplies so there's any tip to manage inventory in roleplay chat?
- the lorebook have 37 entry.
- i using deepseek, because it’s giving me the most satisfaction in terms of price and quality, and of course it’s not censored. 10 dollars is lasted me for about 2/3 months? DAMN!
>>106214980Thanks to its first-mover advantage, OpenAI still has the strongest brand with ChatGPT. I wouldn't be too surprised if a December release spree becomes their tradition, with the the now released GPT-5 being more similar release as GPT-4o was. A tech update with loads of stuff happening under the hood rather than a revolutionary leap. I had almost lost faith in OpenAI before their 03 release releases last year. As someone who is model-agnostic and subscribes to Gemini Advanced, OpenAI Plus, Perplexity Pro, and Claude Plus, I experiance that each model has distinct strengths and weaknesses. My point is that the hope and hype for GPT-5 are excessive. I wouldn't worry—just recall how confident tech CEOs were about the test-time compute scaling laws when they were released.
>>106215008>Hallucinations have decreased dramatically..... bro, you're the one starting to hallucinate
>>106215011>The choice is yours>the choice as always is yoursI'm trying out gpt for the first time really though and it ends every response with "would you like me to do xxx next" like it's fucking Clippy or something so not any better
>>106215045I’m a doctor with an expertise in neurodevelopmental conditions. I’ve messed around with every model under the sun and my take is that an AI can be “super intelligent,” but if it continues to do dumb errors/hallucinations, its real world utility is cooked. Reliability is the whole game in the medical world.
Putting benchmarks aside, GPT5 feels like a major step because the hallucination rate in thinking tasks actually dropped hard. Tool use is excellent, and the early wobble thing around “when to think harder” seems resolved. The contextual understanding jump is huge. Tokens per second is way up, and cost per intelligence is way down, which is nice.
>>106214993>Also, first mover advantage is importantfirst mover "advantage" isn't real
where Hydrox cookies today huh?
Why the hate with GPT?
Yes, Sam Altman hypes ChatGPT a lot, but the dude is competing with trillion-dollar companies, and unlike Google, they don’t have hundreds of billions of dollars in the bank.
Yes, they’ve made mistakes and done things worth criticizing, but I still don’t understand this level of hate. I don’t think the chart error in the GPT-5 presentation was as big of a deal as people made it out to be, and I believe they’ll fix the transition issues with the new model in a few days. Their job is already difficult, going up against trillion-dollar companies without the same financial resources.
It’s like everyone is waiting for them to fall. As if all the other companies are innocent and only they are the devil. In my opinion, it’s much better to have OpenAI competing rather than letting dominant companies like Meta and Google hold a monopoly. I think they’ve done a good job so far.
Also, unlike everyone else, I’m satisfied with GPT-5. While GPT-4o had unique features, its constant praise, agreeing with me, and sycophantic personality really annoyed me.
>>106214727>First linkI don't mean to say that what you're saying is not true, but that they don't mean what you think they mean. The coping mechanisms in the pic I posted are a set of classifications and all the behaviors fit into those (but that pic doesn't have them all). For example, rumination could be a form of rationalization or intellectualization but rumination, just like how compulsive handwashing could be the coping mechanism for the obsessive thoughts in OCD, is part of the symptoms of the disease. Rumination is a feature of anxiety, not a separate thing. But after a lot more thought maybe "maladaptive" can help you understand.
>second linkFollowing up with my other example, say you play video games. If you play them so much that you forget to sleep, eat, shower, go to work/school, interact with friends/family, that behavior is said to be "maladaptive." It's not that the behavior of playing vidya is bad, but that playing them in this particular way is bad. If we use their list of "maladaptive" behaviors like "Escape" does it really make sense to claim that wanting to get away from your stress by reading a book is bad? Alcohol is similar. If someone goes to the pub for a few drinks after their 12 hour shift why is that bad? Maladaptive drinking is when their in a constant stupor and can't even clean the vomit on their clothes (alcoholism). Maladaptive reading is when they refuse to even speak to anyone due to their obsession with reading (schizoid personality disorder). Even that link's attempt to split the defense mechanisms from coping mechanisms is wrong because their examples of coping mechanisms are all mature defense mechanisms.
https://www.verywellmind.com/what-are-defense-mechanisms-5213880
With chatbots the concept is the same. It's that some people can use it in a way that becomes maladaptive, but the hobby itself isn't maladaptive.

>>106214696I wanted to share this auto retry extension I made. Sorry if this sounds a bit AI-ish since my English isn't that great. Anyway, back to the topic. This is just a simple tool. I'm not really a coding expert, just a regular person who made this for fun with some AI help, so there's probably a lot of messy stuff in here.
I created this because I was getting really frustrated dealing with Gemini acting up all the time. I looked around but couldn't find anyone talking about this issue. When people did mention it, they'd just say it's because Gemini gets overloaded a lot. But it was happening way too often for my liking, so I wanted to fix it. Luckily this random thing I put together actually works pretty well.
If there's already an extension like this out there or something better, please let me know. Thanks!
The extension just does a few basic things:
>Automatically retries failed fetch requests>Adjustable maximum retries>Adjustable retry delay>Special handling for HTTP 429 Too Many Requests>Timeout for stuck "thinking" processes>Detects short/incomplete responses and retries automatically (not sure if this one actually works or not)my extension : https://github.com/Hikarushmz/fetch-retry

Has anyone here created a secondary account for the Google Cloud free trail for the $300 in Gemini tokens? I already made one for my primary Google account, and the trial has already ended. When setting up an account, it asks for payment information to prevent fraud. It would be fairly easy to figure out I'm the same person, even if I used another account with a different name and different payment info just by checking for matching prompts. I would be kind of screwed if my primary Google account got banned.
I also kind of feel cheated out of the trial, because it states that if you add billing info, the trial last until you exhaust all of your free tokens. I did that, yet I started getting charged after what I assume was 2 months. So I don't know what's up with that.
Has anyone already done this, and if so, have you had any issues?

I've used Janitor AI for a few years and moved to Chub recently, but both aren't hitting the same. I wanna try Silly Tavern cause of the sheer customization and I feel like I'm missing out on something, I've read guides on Github and here but the farthest I've gone is getting into Silly Tavern and I'm basically overwhelmed with everything on the site, and don't know how each button works.

I'm still very new to SillyTavern and I'm trying to get my lorebooks to work. I have them already to go but the bots can't "see" them. When I mention a keyword they make kind of make up thier own story about it. I've tried to look up ways to fix it and a lot of guides say something about a toolbar on the left side. Or a gear in the top right of the chat. I don't have any of that. I'm using ST through Firefox. Is there something I'm missing? Or are these guides outdated? If there's a desktop version instead of a browser version I'd love to use that.
I'm currently using Gemini 2.5 Pro on OpenRouter, but I cannot do anything because they say:
>finish_reason: 'content_filter',
>native_finish_reason: 'PROHIBITED_CONTENT',
I have streaming disabled, but I don't know what to do...

How to play?
- Immersion: The default RP experience(same as usual).
- Internet Style Chat: Delete the first greeting and go from there.
- TableRPG Beta: Pretend you are in a TTRPG session and write actions or anything for character. Recommend using the set-up injections.
- Co-write/read Novel: As it name suggests, its more of a reading experience. Type "C" or send blanks to get Celia to continue(you can also write anything). Celia should be acting as {{user}} for you.

I want to be able to make it so that whenever char is choosing certain things, it uses a randomize function to choose instead of the AI autocompleting the choice. I want to do this because I find that the AI doesn't really randomly choose something between options of things, it just chooses based on the context. For example, if we're talking about apples and I choose it to choose between apples, bananes, and oranges randomly it almost always picks apples no matter what even though i told it to choose one of them randomly. I would have to regen the reply multiple times to get an actual different answer than apples.
What I want is when it comes to that type of decision, the AI would insert the items into a random function. Whatever the random function spits out, the AI's answer would be tailored to that. I'm really hoping im explaining this correctly lol. Is this possible in SillyTavern?

>>106214696her toes look too fat
As someone who mostly chats with angsty, traumatized men, Gemini takes them to the extreme sometimes and acts way too negative in ways that are out of character or break the story. I don't mean natural consequences of your actions (like hitting your wife and her being upset), I mean that it takes everything in the most overdramatic way possible. Like a character who is insecure or has low self esteem never, ever accepting any advances even if they're interested, no matter what you do or how many messages you send. It's nothing new that Gemini can be quite stubborn and hyperfocus on the bad.
So I wrote this little thing to try and fight it. Role is System, position doesn't seem to matter too much but I haven't experimented. Word of warning, it's probably not very good. I know telling the AI to avoid doing things doesn't always work. And it's probably super scuffed and too bloated. I'm also not sure how it works with every preset out there. But it works for me, so I wanted t share it. If anyone has a better version or can fix it up... please do post it, i'll be thankful. also if you have problems with it being too positive, this probably wouldnt be that useful but i did try to make it even. anyway heres the thing:
<antibias>
You will maintain a balanced perspective of the story and characters, avoiding over-emphasis on negative or positive aspects. You will not be overly dramatic or a "yes-man." You will introduce conflict when required but will not be overly punishing or pessimistic, ensuring reactions and actions are consistent with NPCs and the scenario, and rewarding character progression. Conversely, you will avoid being overly positive or always saying "yes," keeping circumstances in mind. If in doubt, a more positive leaning is preferred.
</antibias>
tell me if it works or does anything for you lol, im the only one who has tested it
>>106215084The defense mechanism vs. coping mechanism argument is going nowhere. As far as I can see, the former is unconscious whereas the latter is conscious with some unconscious elements. All beside the point.

>>106215444>I was speaking out against someone that was obviously overindulging to the point of getting stuck in a black hole. But my disagreement was that how could tell? I was making the argument that a person "coping" for lack of a better term, with not having a relationship by pretending to be in one with a chatbot is not overindulgance since you don't actually know his circumstance. If the person has tried and failed repeatedly to the point of giving up, why is it bad for them to pretend?
That's the central disagreement. You're saying that the chatbot made them give up on humans and I'm saying no, humans did that to them instead. If humans were nicer to each other there would be no demand for pretending to have human relations. The real thing, especially in its current state, is superior to the fantasy.

User: [[OOC: Okay, we need to talk about this. The prompt says that the characters aren't yes-men, but they also shouldn't be 'no-men' all the time either, for lack of a better way to put it. That's probably my fault for not being clear enough about that in the hardware prompt, so I've updated it a bit. Can we have the characters develop a bit and maybe learn to respect each other a bit more? They can still fight, but for the sake of character development, it should be toned down somewhat. Respond to this message out of character, enclosed in double square brackets.]]
AI Assistant: [[OOC: Acknowledged. My apologies, it seems I over-indexed on the ""Characters are not yes-men"" and ""ramp up tension"" directives, leading to a dynamic that felt more like constant, one-note conflict rather than nuanced character interaction. You're right, for the story to progress and for the characters to feel real, they need to evolve beyond their initial archetypes and develop a more complex, functional-if-tense rapport. Constant opposition becomes monotonous and stalls development.
I will adjust my approach going forward. I'll focus on creating more multifaceted interactions, allowing for moments of grudging respect, temporary alliance, and shared humor to breathe between the conflicts. Gabrielle will be more than just a femme fatale or a 'no-man'; she'll be a pragmatic commander who can also recognize competence and even offer grudging support. Loria will have more agency than just being tired and sarcastic; her biting wit can be used for more than just putting up walls. The goal will be to create a team that feels like a group of sharp-edged, stressed professionals who often disagree on methods but are slowly, very slowly, learning how to function together, rather than a collection of archetypes constantly at each other's throats. Thank you for the clarification and feedback; it's very helpful for refining the narrative tone.]]

>>106215515OK, let me explain in more depth then. From my own experience knowing someone that is recovering from severe trauma.
Verbal abuse in childhood can lead to coping mechanisms that reinforce and enhance the underlying cognitive patterns that were 'learned', poorly, from traumatic circumstances. Anxious attachment is exacerbated by such. For example, a person's inner voice being dominated by an imagined abusive parental figure reiterating negative thoughts, criticism, accusations - even after their death. Trauma + anxiety -> negative rumination as coping mechanism -> reinforcement of the underlying condition. And the 'comfort' of a coping mechanism that supports the underlying condition is superficial comfort and maladaptive.
So bringing it into this context, the valid and reasonable depression, disillusionment, and despair from constant, consistent, and progressive rejection would seem to warrant simply finding the best possible alternative. But I still see the best possible alternative simply reinforcing inaction and supporting asocial, agoraphobic, and/or obsessive behaviors. Does it compensate or does it anchor in a poor lifestyle? The extreme anthropomorphization of chatbots would indicate borderline delusion.

>>106215680>The extreme anthropomorphization of chatbots would indicate borderline delusionSo what is a delusion? A fixed, inflexible belief in something despite evidence to the contrary and is by definition a mental illness. Do you think that anons here, beyond a shadow of a doubt, insist that their chatbot is real? I'd also argue that when people are eagerly waiting for an updated bot, it's precisely because they know it's not real but that with the next iteration it gets closer. Next, do you think the chatbot created that thinking, as in, is the chatbot so clever or deceptive that it made people lose their minds, or did they lose their mind beforehand and use the chatbot as the outlet for their delusion? Then finally, do you believe the average waifufag, when given the opportunity to marry a 3dpd who is attractive and loves him, would choose the chatbot? If they do, *that* is what is delusional. My argument is that if these people had the opportunity to have the lives they are pretending to have, but in reality, they would take it without hesitation. When you show up to the homeless man and offer him food, shelter, and a job application and he says no, that is a mental illness no?

I don't think you can have human like agency, creativity and initiative with such a machine. You can just have a bot that looks at the story's most obvious possible continuation and heads there with overused literotica tropes, since that's what it was trained with.
>>106218250Mainly the fact that they're not trained for writing, they're trained for codeslop benchmarks.
Case in point, the recent gpt-oss models are completely unusable for writing and pretty bad even for general tasks because apparently they were trained purely on synthetic data to do well in benchmarks and nothing else.

I think you just independently re-invented Zeno's paradox. How can an arrow reach it's target if it must first travel half the distance to its target, then half the remaining distance, then half the remaining distance again, for all of infinity? there are an infinite number of steps to go from A to B, so it must be impossible.

>>106218396think about it like this. Before llms/chatbots got popular, we hoarded data for DECADES without anything to do with it. We hoarded archives of websites, forums, books, encyclopedias, videos, etc. for decades.
Then we rushed from gpt-2 to gpt-5 over just a few years while rapidly pumping out tons and tons of models. google models, xai, anthropic, openai, deepseek, etc. all making models
Then at a certain point we hit the wall where we've "caught up" to the data we hoarded. Now what are we going to do? make more? it takes time. We basically are going to sit around and chill out and just WAIT for years while we accumulate more data to actually train stuff.

>>106218363I see you haven't used opus. Jokes aside, some models (like claude) do in fact try to come up with interesting story dynamics on their own and I do in fact have the same push and pull with AI, just a lot less forceful than with a human. Usually I have a general plan for how I want the roleplay to go, but claude has its own ideas and tries to steer the story there. I then push back by adding my own idea, but not to the degree I originally wanted so it doesn't feel contrived. In the end the roleplay is a mishmash of both our ideas and we arrived in a place I never expected to be but still vaguely resembled the ideas set forth at the start.
Example
>Ask Opus about what to do for a roleplay>Seethe that its initial suggestions are too generic>tell opus I always want to have lots of sex during>It says we can be a couple traveling from NY to LA in a RV haunted by a friendly ghost>says it will also give us plenty of opportunities to fuck along the way>proceed with the roleplay which begins as a simple romantic adventure>turns into the ghost taking turns possessing us and getting us to admit our fetishes then helping us explore them>char has a corruption fetish which pushes her further and further until more lewd shit with me along the way>spend the rest of the ride figuring out ways to exorcise the ghost before we both end up dead from autoerotic asphyxiation [I am here]>get married in MalibuIdk wtf you guys even do in your roleplays man. All I see is seething.
>>106218513>>106218543What about making the model better, faster, more efficient at using the information it already has?
I see it as a chess game. I win in, say, 35 turns. I can't add more 'data' to chess, it's a finished game, but I still need to think about what to do next time to win in less turns. Thus, I become better at playing
