You've never seen a car title. Car titles require you to fill out lienholders information if you are paying off the loan. The banks that give you loans have legal ownership of the car until its paid off and can take back when you fail to pay the banks back on a contractually agreed upon terms. The moment you violate the terms by not paying the bank back, and within reasons, the bank will start formal repossession process.

You dont own the car until you pay them off. Thats what the loan contract would say. Thats what the official car title would require you to fill out all interest holders for the car.
