yes you should always do the opposite of what the (((media))) tells you to
this 1 simple trick guarantees the path to an easy life

it was a mistake to learn to code when everyone was saying lrn2code, cause the job market crashed afterwards

now is the best time to lrn2code cause everyone says not to
in 5-10 years everything will be AI slop with nobody having a clue how to maintain it or fix the bugs and programmers who actually know their shit will be highly sought after

Problem is making them 100% agentic, navigating a massive code base, an OS, dealing with 500 different frameworks AND being cheaper than just hiring someone.
There needs to be a deeper level of understanding, beyond training data.
Even SOTA models still struggle with embedded programming, simply cause there isn't enough data.

I think what will actually happen will be much funnier. Everyone's so caught up in chasing AGI that they're forgetting that all this shit is severely computationally expensive, and the cost will be pushed onto the consumer like it is with cloud computing (itself a very expensive option compared to traditional web hosting). Once we finally get this hypothetical AI that can code and debug perfectly, the cost to run it will likely be as much as just having an H1B do the job. At that point I think SWE will make a comeback, but salaries will be half as much as they are now because you'll be competing with (an expensive) AI.

But cries when AI starts to do her job for her.

Maybe... just maybe... if AI can successfully do your job then your job isn't all that special.

The only artists that whine about AI are the uncreative, untalented hacks. A true artist continues to enjoy their craft regardless.

you should have your own ideas about what you want to code into reality instead of just wanting to be a cog for a corporation.

Does programming interest you on a personal level or are you looking to get into it for money.
If it's the latter, no. Stay away. You're not going to make it. The returns for the effort aren't going to make it pay off because your heart isn't in it and this shit can be hard.
If it's the former, go for it and fuck the people who tell you that you've got no future because of AI. Do it because you love it. Out of that love, maybe you'll do something that makes you money, more likely you won't. But you'll have an interesting and useful hobby that will keep you occupied for the rest of your life.

I live paycheck to paycheck working a dead end job, I've always thought is funny how kids go to an expensive college straight from high school thinking a degree is a magic ticket to high income, and I've always held the belief that most laptop jobs at a megacorporation are entirely frivolous and should be replaced by AI. In fact I'm in college right now doing a CS degree but I don't expect to get a tech job, I only got into CS so I can use open source/customized systems because I don't like the direction the internet is going
