and yes my normie friends can install dino/gajim/whatever phoneshit xmpp client, then put in "foo@nigge.rs" and a password. its unironically less complicated than shit like telegram or whatsapp, because of phone numbers and meme backups, you cant even log into 1 whatsapp account on 2 different devices at a time, you cant even log into telegram without actually having access to your phone number. its painful to use even for normies.
i don't recommend every normie to set up his own xmpp/mumble/rtmp server, but every normie knows at least 1 tech guy who can do it for them.
