No. I use the chat function when I'm driving around sometimes and it's more conversational and fun than gpt despite the voice model not sounding as good.

I was impressed by Grok's ability to speak eloquently when directed to do so, but then chatting was disabled after about 5 messages---wouldn't even let me send the last one, just cut me off.

I also hate how reliant upon web searches it apparently is.

Also wasn't clear what the subscriptions plans were in terms of costs and benefits.

If I'm being honest, I was more just pretending that ChatGPT had good competitors so that Sam would feel pressured into walking back this disastrous GPT-5 rollout, which worked. Also honestly I plan to just start coughing up the twenty bucks a month, I didn't like any of the other models I trialed enough or the companies behind them for that matter.

I only use Grok and ChatGPT, with a little bit of messing around with a local llama model so my experience is limited. Generally ChatGPT is much, much better but Grok is obviously far less censored so I use it for phone sex and anything I'm uncertain about asking ChatGPT in case it flags it as some violation of ToS.

Haven't used Grok, but for the general purpose I'm quite impressed with gpt-5-mini. The mini and nano models typically suck so much cock, it's unreal. But this one works well, without being retarded or falsely confident.

Works well for me.
For research and idea generation/exploration it's really good, I do in hours what took me weeks (and more) before. It explained some obscure (advanced math) concepts that I struggled with earlier.
I just have to tell it to be concise, not overly optimistic or encouraging, see downsides and shortcomings, then it's fine. It's like a knowledgeable friend who's often right, sometimes ill-informed or contradictory, and occasionally needs to be reality-checked.
