How many years before the general public do you think big tech was already secretly using LLM technology?
I'm guessing around 2005 or so

I remember seeing posts about GPTwitter in 2020. With receipts going back a couple years into 2018 and evidence of heavy botting activity using LLMs.

Wrong
We were using vision models for OCR and Voice models based on same tech for synthesis.
Even used real Ai in Creatures games (it was very well made)

LLMs however are a novelity.

definitely was being used in coding contests around mid-2000s. It was obvious because some contestants were doing the 4 qualifier problems in 180 seconds. And now conveniently jewgle has removed all the history for code jam.
