Why are there so many bugs in free desktop environments?
Couldn't they just feature freeze a certain version and beta test until everything gets fixed even if it takes a year or two?

no, they can’t, and it’s not because they don’t want to. KDE is a free, open-source project with no big corporate budget. almost all contributors are volunteers or paid by unrelated companies to work on specific features, not to sit and run manual QA all day.

like the other anon said, you are the beta tester, submit a bug report. this is what being part of an opensource community is all about. either do something to help fix the problem or shut the fuck up.
