Not him but status. That blue chat bubble matters for some reason.
Using anything but apple is contrarian at best and signalling you're poor at its worse.

Not to mention apps are fucky on anything not on iOS. I say this as a pixel 6 owner. I've had to install CRM apps for work and they fucking things never work because the Jeet coders only focus on iOS users.

Wtf is this shit?? Please explain, I read it in the internet but still couldn't understand. There's some app that is both in android and iOS and it shows the color of OS? Or it shows both messages from internet and SMS and the only difference is the color? Why don't they show SMS in other app like default app in android? Why would somebody send SMS at all? Why would the girl give her number to a guy who she doesn't like and then complain that he uses android? Is it because apple users don't see the difference between SMS and other messages? What if they accidentally turn off the internet? Or you can't turn it off on iPhone?

On iPhone, the default SMS app isn't just an SMS app - in addition to SMS it also supports the Apple-specific proprietary "iMessage" protocol. The app provides a unified interface where you don't choose between SMS or iMessage - you just start chatting with someone. The chat bubbles are just a UI detail of the Messages app - google "iPhone Messages" and look at images - see that blue/green border around messages? Those are chat bubbles. So, if you see a green chat bubbles that means SMS is being used in that conversation. If you see a blue chat bubble, that means iMessage is being used in that conversation.
Anonymous No.106250310 >>106250467
>>106250189
Yeah ok, so when using SMS if an iPhone users messages another iPhone user the chat bubbles are blue.
If the iPhone user messages an android user the chat bubbles are green, this is a feature of iMessage, the iOS app for SMS. This makes it so iOS users prefer other iOS users over android.

I'm guessing the reason why Europe prefers WhatsApp is because you prefer messaging over WiFi than on service.

US is more than 51% iPhone users, and they're the upper middle class. Not surprising an American who can afford to travel abroad is using iOS. Budget phones are mostly android.

It's a minor wealth signal. Only Teenagers and vapid foids care.
Anonymous No.106250333 >>106250473
>>106250200
Yes, I read that, but how do you start chatting with someone? You select the contact from list of contacts (a phone number)? Why do people give their phone number to random people instead of some id in telegram, signal or maybe whatsapp (didn't use it but should be the same)? It's not private.
How are people not scared of accidentally sending SMS with that app? (it's considered bad here, people will think that you traveled in time from year 2000)
Is imessage made with TCP/UDP or it's some gsm/cdma thing?
So android users send SMS and that's why they are shown with green?

I think different people have different reasons but there's a general consensus that it's bad.
Girls don't do it because a guy they decide to ditch can call them from hundreds of numbers and blocking won't help.
Criminals don't do it because police can track your location, the accuracy is like 1m. It's like that in all countries.
If you give your number to a crackhead, he can tell it to services than lend money with high percentages and tell them that you are his relative. Then they will call you and tell you that that guy doesn't give the money back and that you have to tell him to do it. Don't know much about it but I saw the news from Russia that the gangster from that service threw molotov to apartment of the crackhead and burnt the toddler. Maybe everyone heard similar stories and doesn't want to deal with them.
I don't give my number because I'm a freetard and i like privacy.
It's extremely hard to get a phone number of university professor, especially the ones from radio physics faculty, probably they know something. They only communicate with email.
Anonymous No.106250666
>>106250628
That's a lot of reasons, but some of those sound exclusive to eastern Europe violence.
In general most people in the states are willing to give each other their number, but most prefer social media.

I wouldn't know, I don't talk to anyone. I'm using WhatsApp for work.

None of things are concerns for the vast majority of Americans; giving out your phone # to anyone you have even mild contact with is not considered to be that big of a deal. Also note that due to how the US phone systems works you can keep your number even if you switch cell phone carriers (and that has been a thing for more than twenty years), so some people have gotten quite attached to their numbers, and don't want to have to bother with any other sort of ID when it comes to phone contacts

Nah ever since 4g there's no real way to decode the SMS unless you're the phone carrier. You're thinking of 3g and only certain areas used the super weak encryption with 3g like much of Europe.

I use OTP for 2FA. Never anything linked to a phone or running on a phone, phones are comped.

It's not possible to establish a secure communication over the internet. You need to bootstrap it by meeting the other users face-to-face.
Apps like Olvid enforce that by requiring the guest to flash a QR code on the host's device to join the chatgroup.

A sign such apps is actually working is that a new guest should not be able to decrypt messages that were sent before he joined.
