Youtube is destroyed, things I looked up just a few weeks ago are ruined with floods of "shorts," it's over.

I use an extension to hide shorts. Obviously the underlying issue of people previously making longer content swapping to this ADHD shit is still there, but you don't have to see it.
That said, along with an extension to bring back the dislike bar, I'm sick of Google making shitty changes which mean I have to add bloat to my browser.

I can't see how that would matter when there are like 5 videos for every short, then when I go to sort it by upload date (the video I want is old) it just says "No results found" it's fucking ruined

Try using the before:YYYY-MM-DD operator. If you know it was uploaded past a certain date, you can also use the after:YYYY-MM-DD operator. Both of these can work by themselves or paired together. For example, here's some videos from the Wii's launch day:

I didn't need to do that a few weeks ago, why do I need to do that now? Nobody wants to see the shitty shorts or be censored from old videos. It's much worse than it was literally 2 weeks ago. YouTube shorts have basically scrubbed the website clean of old videos, anything made before 2020 has been buried under piles of shit ADHD inducing videos. Like the anon below said, you have to use the YYYY-MM-DD operator to access the "old" site or any specific video you might be looking for.

just use the block element feature on ublock instead of adding another potential point of failure to your browser

I honestly lost all hope in YouTube as a platform during the period when (((WMG))) decided no one could access anything owned by them.

Speaking of shorts, youtube has broken them for me, they just don't play any more with uBlock enabled.

short video is okay only when its UI is okay.
If it's just an array of URLs of 3MB.webm, it doesn't matter at all.
The problem is that it will never happen.

they really broke something in the past few weeks. i went to shop my old pops a vid on his tv yt program. typed in the url video id in the search and it had 3 pgs of unrelated trash. double checked the search and it was right. then found the video in the middle of the 4th page results essentially hidden. what enjeetification bullshit

It's pretty bad but viewing it on a mobile browser is unbearable. You cannot search anything without getting drowned in garbage.

Shorts are actually not that bad, you just need to give them a try! Most content on YouTube is longer to push ads, but the limitations of Shorts force the creators to make it a more condensed viewing experience, perfect for those with limited time in a day.
