that's right, it went to bloatware C++ libraries compiled with -Ofast -funroll-loops because some linux ricer nigger in charge of the distribution thought that it's a magic switch that makes everything le fast.

KDE 4 and Gnome 3 was the beginning of linux eshitification.
KDE 3 and Gnome 2 ran well on a computer with a single core CPU and 128MB of RAM.
KDE 4 and Gnome 3 required 512MB of RAM and a dual core CPU even though they had less features than KDE 3 and Gnome 2.

Fuck you, I don't want that, you want that, I just want to read a page with text and some images). And now I keep having to buy more and more RAM because you can't be arsed to do it right the first time. You're like a hobo who begs for money but who could get his life together instead, but plainly refuses to and offloads the debt to someone else. You are scum. You begone, faggot.

Performance depends on CPU cycles, not RAM usage. You want something that doesn't create 1000 interrupts per second.
In my experience, a big sinner is X compositors. I found Xfwm4 with the xpresent backend to be the lightest one, so yay rattie.
