they don't own the internet. they're just users like you and me. even governments are powerless. for copyrighted shit i'm sure they'll go nuts but it's not important. they can't do shit, and all the recent laws passed for age verification shit only applies to "platforms" that have a certain number of users, and some will just lie about the numbers anyway or refuse to hand them over. also, if youtubers etc. are sharing their own content via p2p, nobody is going bother anyone. governments made the mistake of believing they have power over the internet. it's going to cost them dearly.

YouTube already recommends me videos about guns and alcohol, so it'd be really weird if they (or their algorithm, I guess) suddenly decides I'm actually a minor (which would mean the account I started in 2011 was somehow made by a 3-year-old at most...) because I also watch Digital Circus and Deltarune let's-plays...

There are limewire "clones", soulseek, emule etc. Just that nobody wants a peer to peer one. People want an app where they can quickly watch HD videos on their phone, with a reccomendation algorithm. P2P has its place and YouTube has its place.
